Malt 379 Posted October 10, 2013 Report Share Posted October 10, 2013 Just thought I'd add my tuppence seeing as the thread has shifted in a more interesting direction.. I was brought up in a family of manual workers. On my mums side, my grandad spent his whole working life after leaving the army on various industrial installations all over the country as a steel erector, one of my uncles has been in a job on a local refinery since his 20's and the other uncle worked for most of his life as a plater. My dads side were fishermen. I grew up during the 80's, my dad has spent his whole life as a builder, mostly employed by some fat c**t working his socks off to fund his bosses big house and lavish lifestyle. My dad did try going his own way in the 80's, made a fair bit of money initially but boom and bust f****d him up and he's never really recovered. I hated the Tories with a passion growing up, and when I voted in the first general election I was able to, Labour got in with a huge majority. It was a good feeling knowing I'd played my part in getting rid of a government I'd grown up despising. Apart from my dad, we were generally lucky in that we didn't loose as much as people like us did in other areas. I'd seen industrial workers like my grandad have their work taken away from them, fishermen like my other grandad have their fishing areas given away to the Spanish, etc, and seen the misery caused to my fellow Welshmen when they closed the mines. At 19/20 I was borderline Welsh nationalist and had it not been for my family being fiercely proud labour supporters, I'd have chucked my vote away on Plaid Cymru. I have voted Labour in every election since, even the last one when I didn't really want to because I was as pissed off with them as everyone else. Everyone on here was on about voting Tory because they had promised to overturn the ban, but I knew what was coming. Having seen the Labour Party in opposition for the first time since I was 18, I've realised what a mess our political system has become. The Labour in opposition I seem to remember were working class people who had risen to the top in politics and it used to be genuinely interesting hearing both parties going at each other over the despatch box. Neil Kinnock isn't remembered all that fondly, but to hear him sticking it to Maggie and her giving it back during the recordings they used to play (no cameras allowed in parliment back in the day kids! ) were genuinely interesting, even as a kid. These days most politicians are from the same backgrounds and have never known real life no matter which side of the divide they fall on. I grew up under the Tories and matured under Labour. I've recently come to the conclusion that neither of them work so for the first time in my life I won't be voting Labour at the next election. What UKIP bring to the table is something different, so they will be getting my vote. The only thing that bothers me is that if people start moving away from the main parties it will give the likes of Clegg more power. The one thing that sticks in my throat more than having Cameron as prime minister is having Nick f***ing Clegg as deputy PM. A party that something like 15% of the population voted for is involved in making decisions that effect 100% of the population. He has shown how spineless he is by shitting on his own supporters over various things he promised in their manifesto. The Tories can't rule without his parties support and he's forgotten about that fact in the attempt to be in power for as long as he can. I'd think more of him if he really stood up up for his beliefs, even though I share very few of them, and used his position properly.. Jmo.. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Cameron , Clegg and Milliband are prize wankers, but I'd shoot myself if Clegg or Milliband got any power and personally I really do fear that Milliband will next year... Malt 379 Posted October 10, 2013 Report Share Posted October 10, 2013 It's not just the fact they're somthing different mate, I actually tend to agree with a lot of what Farage and the rest of them say when I hear them speak. Godfrey Bloom was a huge loss to them IMO, I could have listened to him for hours. Was listening to radio 2 the day after they took the whip off him and some bloke came on the phone and said he's glad he's gone because he wrote him a letter about his stance on field sports and didn't like the reply.. Apparently Bloom replied to him personally via email calling him a towny who didn't have a clue about the way the countryside works and to stick to things he did know about! To me thats a dirty tactic and not true at all they will take votes from across the spectrum i live and work in labour strongholds and ukip will take alot of votes off labour no doubt about it. When that petition got the 100,000 signatures required to trigger a vote DC shit himself and heavily whipped his MPs to vote it down and at the time I asked my MP how he was going to vote When he said he would support Cameron I told him that I would NEVER vote conservative again all the time DC was at healm and I wont I like to think I am honest, so I will make my vote honest and put my X in the UKIP box.......I may get Labour but to be honest I feel like I have them now anyway as they are all just the same Anyway, UKIP it will be and then at least I know I voted for something that I believe in !!! 6 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

They would soon gain just as much power as they feel they need. At the end of the day it's only revolutions that can change a governments,democracy is just a way to make you think you have any say in the way the country's run. If we were 1 nation fighting and working toward a common goal,we could achieve more and ensure our survival as a race. We've been shown the way now we just have to implement it. As we know there is no ideal world, and you're right politics is a popularity contest. My way isn't going to happen and neither is yours. We will never be one nation. Big government is bad government, whatever they claim. you can spot the boys that come from a private school no matter how hard they try to be jack the lad lol. Might want to re-zero your scope! but the real power was held by the SS,and it suited them to have hitler in charge of the show. They made one huge f*****g error, then. Power yes. Brains? Hardly. If the SS had all the power, and even a sniff of grey matter, they'd have gotten rid of him. Maybe changed the entire outcome of history. So at this point a smaller government is better,but nationalism is alive and will only get stronger,especially here in the UK as our government continues to push for our genocide. The point I'm trying to make, maybe not so clearly, is that big government never works in our interest. It never has, and it never will, and because of the apathy, in Britain, it will never get any smaller. Are you seriously okay by being ruled by a government?
