whipbed 42
i make my own lead ball ammo which isn,t too difficult once youve got all the gear, it does take a while to make a large number so i can understand that they are quite expensive to buy. the most time comsuming bit i find is cutting the balls away from the excess lead on the pouring holes. you can simply just cut them away and leave it at that , but this always leaves a bit sticking out. to get rid of these bits can be done by filing or rolling between two hard surfaces , but as i,ve said this takes a while. does anybody use a different /quicker method? some say that at slingshot ammo weights and speeds a little uneveness doesn,t really make much difference ,after all some people use hex nuts and also conical bullet heads which aren,t exactly round. B.P.R 2,798
Them ones you gave me are spot on stevie... I wouldnt worry about filing the excess off after you have cut them... afterall... as you say... hexnuts and bullets are used ....
Gaz_1989 9,539
How successful are hexnuts? I've got access to as many as I want from work. I think they are 12mm. I can't hit a thing with them but I think that's my accuracy. I haven't tried with round shot so can't compare.

Gaz_1989 9,539
Bought some from screw fix and they shot ok What size were they mate? Do you fire them so you are holding the sides of the nut in the pouch? Or so you are holding the hole?
Big bald beautiful 1,231
Holding the hole, I'm sure I got M12 nuts..

kranky 507
I use M10 hexnuts. They do the job. I've got some [BANNED TEXT]'s which I use from a small Holly fork with single strands of Dankung 17/45, I've killed a couple of pigeons with headshots with [BANNED TEXT]'s and light tubes. I found M12's too heavy for me but Rascal-2005 uses them and has had some kills with his TBG set up.

Get a thread started with your kill shots bud, nobodies posted some kills in quite a while, i dropped a woodie with that antler catty with some surgical tubing on and 12mm lead today but couldnt retrieve it as it fell into some cover full of nettles, im loving it and the deep draw on the surgical tubing is great
whipbed 42
your oblong ones obviously work ok mate as your recent addition proves so can,t argue with that, 10mm hex nuts appear the most popular and i have used them also but find that accuracy and speed drop off quickly after a short distance.[but are surprisingly accurate close in] on the plus side the nuts do a lot of damage close range due to their sharp edges and i have taken feathered stuff with them. have also heard of steel rod cut into short pieces for max damage at close range but not tried them myself. i maybe taking it too far with getting an exact round ball and glad your having success with them lee.
