Bootsha 1,306
just a thought foxy to reduce your fuel use and being too hot..................... get some bricks out of some old storage heaters etc, and put inside the fire site in your boiler, reducing the size of fire you have, may still be sufficient to do all the heating etc, but use less fuel ??? Have thought abot that before, Just never seem to have gotten around to doing it. Well, it was just fire bricks we discussed, and reducing the hole to be honest. I suppose those from old storage heaters might be a better option, they would hold the heat eh.
Bootsha 1,306
the bricks from old storage heaters are proper fire bricks, designed for very high temperatures, they are solid ( as opposed to hollow as with many) bricks, very heavy, and yes, for that reason, will hold the heat much better for longer. Try it and see, you may find half of the fire size will suffice to your needs, worth a thought i guess??
