*The*Field*Marshall* 674
It's the run for me, I don't enjoy seeing something come it's end, but I'd be disappointed to see my dogs miss much! Haha Quote Link to post
pernod 466
If it wasnt for the run. We would be better getting a gun. Pernod 1 Quote Link to post
rob284 1,682
I wouldnt run a hare over a hill because you cant see the run. And if your dog kills it, what a waste. Quote Link to post
Dan Edwards 1,134
I love the kill. I like battle! Quote Link to post
Astral 253
Its all about the chase for me! Those life and death decisions, the slow quiet breathing when your walking as if you weigh nothing, then walk into a tree because you're only looking at a small grey dot vertically in a tree instead of where your going... Yup. It happens. Quote Link to post
alan81 110
I love the chase when the dog has to use its head and the catch/kill is the cream on top. Quote Link to post
banner man 588
a good chase is what i go out for if they kill after a good chase then great if not he be around to run again 1 Quote Link to post
cocker 2,655
if i wanted to just watch the run i would keep a racing greyhound, or bag chaser, which would be a lot less hassle in this shitty day and age 1 Quote Link to post
toby1066 413
coursing without the kill is like sex without the orgasm its still enjoyable but its just not the same lol 4 Quote Link to post
nans pat 2,575
once you slip its 1 or the other lol its between the dog and the hare. Quote Link to post
low plains drifter 10,890
I prefer the sight of two finely tuned athletes trying to out do each other, and always want my dog to come out on top, but I gain no pleasure from the death of the quarry, never say no to a good bowl full of hare casserole though Quote Link to post

Nowadays, and for the past few years, I care not for big bags or great numbers of dead things...I no longer have anything to prove to myself or anyone else...so I can chill out a bit enjoy the hunt for what it is and love nothing better than a good cur with an efficient nose working things out for itself...if I am totally honest I'm more then happy for the quarry to live to run another day....nice to have something for the pot at the end of a long day...but I enjoy the hunt/chase more nowadays.... The lurchers manage the odd catch local,if i can get to the retrieve before the terriers and the bunny,s are right,i often re-release them.I like to see a few about and take less satisfaction now from killing them,id rather see a good hunt, chase and escape at times,a long testing gallop and catch still gets the ticker going, the kill is often an anti-climax,still id rather the dogs caught more than they miss, with an often heavy heart. bullx100% 681
Bit of both for me as I eat 99% of what I(the dogs)kill.but also love a good chase.like been said if it was just the kill then I'd just shoot.I've seen dogs catch hares wat should av got a way(ended up hiting a ditch or lump of ground) and ened up been caught wich me personaly would let go to run another day as they desserved to get away as they out classed the dogs but due to a mistake were caught. 1 Quote Link to post

dimmock20 278
I like a good run but I also like to see my dog rewarded with a catch at the end of it, nothing better then seeing your dog walking back up the field tail wagging head held high looking proud as f**k. if you lads don't like killing stuff why not muzzle your dogs? 1 Quote Link to post
