BORDERSCOT 3,816
Had that happen a couple of times with foxes over the years....once bolted an otter too....and on one occasion we bolted a massive big feral cat....I think most folk will have bolted things other than bunnies when ferreting.... Dan Davies 7
me and friends have always spoke about it but i never knew it was a fairly common occurrence!! do you think the fox leaves to avoid a commotion or do you think ferret actually "bolts" the fox? Quote Link to post
3175darren 1,100
I have seen this a couple of times, and on both times the fox bolted after the ferret had been lifted, Quote Link to post
Richie87 401
It hapened to me and my mate few years back bolted a fox and it ran down the field with the net round its head. Then 2 weeks later farmer found me net in his cow shed riped to bits lol ? Quote Link to post
Country Joe 1,411
Strange one, although its happens, after 45 years of ferreting, the only beast I have bolted from a Rabbit warren is a Stoat. Quote Link to post
Richie87 401
Yet the set it bolted from is normally a good set since then we lucky if we get two rabbits from it some times the dog don't even mark it now but be4 that it used to hold 8 to 12 bunnys strange ? Quote Link to post
colliexgreyhound 119
Bolted 1 before into a net and it ran away with it over its head. When the ferret came out it it's hair was all standing on end and when I went to lift him the fecker latched on to my hand 1 Quote Link to post
moonlighter 1,164
I struggle to bolt rabbits, let alone anything else! 5 Quote Link to post
rob284 1,682
Fox are timid and will bolt if they can. But a fox that has been in a dig will more likely sit. Quote Link to post
The one 8,479
Had it happen three times usually they bolt throw the net and there gone, once the ferret didnt come out dug down it was only a wee three holer to vixen with cubs and a dead ferret Quote Link to post
RossM 8,119
Heard of it, never had it, bolted a mink few years back , straight to the terrier Quote Link to post
WEDGEY 753
seen this a few times but all cubs foxes dont think an adult fox will bolt to handy Quote Link to post
bigbailey 90
Mates ferret was killed by a fox whilst ferreting, the fox then bolted to be met by both barrels! 1 Quote Link to post
