stevie67 42
firstly hi to all the fellow deer stalkers on here, im reading ur posts for a good while so thought i better start putting a few up myself. went to some of my permission a couple of evenings ago and farmer told me he saw 4 bucks and 2 prickets all together 2 hours before i got there so i headed off hoping to catch up with them somewhere, by dark all i had seen was a doe and her calf which are out of season till nov 1 here in ireland so decided to come back at first light.following morning i was leaving van when it was light enough to see deer, i stalked along the edge of 1 feild and as i got to the back of it i spotted cows in the feild i needed to cross to get to where the deer where coming out so back out to the lane and up the road a few hundred yards and into the feilds i was heading for originally. stalked along the edges of first feild then into the next one, half way along the hedgerow there is a opening about 8 foot wide that the deer use to cross through and as i peeped round into next feild there not 30 yards from me were 3 good bucks so i snuck up onto the ditch in sighted in on the last one as they were grasing away but heading away from me towards another run through the hedges into another feild.my chance came when the last one turned slightly broudside to have one last pick. i put one behind one shoulder strait into the vitals he went about 7 or 8 yards and here is the result. back in cold room minus head and legs from knee joints he weighed 70.45 kg so lucky i only had to drag him 100 yards and get him over a 6 foot ditch. 3 Quote Link to post

SJB1956 0
Well done Steve. We shot a large buck last night and it stunk to high heaven. I haven't heard any calling as yet but he was certainly a rutting buck. Quote Link to post
