where to start...we have such a wide variouty of hunting space;from miles of wide open fields to bushveld with only small patches of open space, approxamitely 500 square metres. We hunt during day and night time;mostly we hunt jackrabbit, jackal, small entelope, and gezelle.I hunt with two pure bred saluki's,one racing greyhound, one boergreyhound and one boergreyhound - saluki mix.

Tell us more please, pictures and some hunting stories would be great. Its great to hear about something different on here, I love the stories from Oz and the States so a few from Africa would be good too.

Welcome to the forum, I hope we hear more from you

In answer to your original question it is about both. The balance that works for you will depend on the terrain and quarry you are working ie; big open land and fast quarry that wont go to ground suits a dog with stamina while small fields or areas with patchy cover and a quarry that will go to ground or use the cover suits a sprinter. In reality most dogs need a bit of both.

What do you prefer?

Hi. Sorry for taking so long. Was a good month though.

I will paste pic as soon as i can.

Yes I do agree a bit of both. If I may I find that my saluki cross is fast and has stamina but if it wasn't for the greyhound to do the early work it would be impossible to catch some of the prey.

I am still looking to find the ultimate dog, one with both stamina and speed.

The jackals ran for approx.300m and the buck 1.5km wee had sum nice competition sum dogs from a town in the north but at the end my saluki x boergrey took the buck. The other dogs was vast until 400m then my saluki x took over fun night
