tote 854
ive heard of it happening before, it was a gay magician, he couldn't pull a rabbit out of a hat, so he pulled a hair out off his hole. You sure it was a hare not a rampant rabbit? 1 Quote Link to post

TOMO 26,121
It's a not uncommon to see them go to ground,, I've done it many times over the years,,, also seen one go up the inside of a tree trunk that was fallen over,, the trunk went up at 45 degree angle and the hare could be seen at head night through little holes,,, and of course we let him be.. On the fens when it was all legal,, everytime I went on organised doo's,,, you would see at least one going to ground , weather it be a badger set,, pipe,, rabbit warren whatever,,,and woebiteide any fecker that tried to stop them.. On one place we went,, next to a barn was a big stack of pellets,,, I kid you not evry hare in the ajoining fields went for that stack,,, by the end of the morning there must have been half a dozen,, if not 10 hares under that stack,,,think max hardcore might remember That day.. 3 Quote Link to post
buster gonads 862
now for all you crabers that presumed (as not 1 of you asked)that i killed the hare i did not instead i got it out put him into a wooden box that i had in the car and took it back to massive land that is 3 miles from my house this was the 4th hare i released there that year had 1 out of a tree trunk and dog caught 2 that were alive and un harmed so not so cruel as you lot think the place im trying to introduce them to used to have hares on 30 years back but farmer that used to have it shot them all my mate has the farm now and said would be nice to see a few about now say your sorry lol That was lucky, you having that wooden box in your car. Why didn't we think to ask you if thats what you did with the hare? After all its common practice we all have custom made hare boxes in our motors for just such occurences don't we? I 'm just a bit puzzled as to why you didn't mention it in the original post? The one that went in the foxhole in my post was not so lucky,I dug to it ,chopped of one of its legs with my spade and threw it down for the dog to grab. So 4 out of 4 .It would have been re-located but I 'd forgotten my," hare- box" that day. By the way, did you similarly re-locate those hares you filmed your dogs coursing and catching in the snow? If so hats off to you ! You are a proper conservationist!!! PS you didn't mention where the land was that you have restocked, if you'd rather not put it here I understand. You can send me a pm with directions to it later. Hands up all those that havent run a Hare in the snow, not many hands me thinks mate, hopefully we are older and wiser these days, atb, buster. 1 Quote Link to post

dodger 2,761
Once they go in a pipe drain or hole they've won the duel n should be left to recover for another day, I did it once when I was 12 years old, my dog ran one in a drain I was gutted it had beat my dog so I ran home n got my ferret n managed to get him out, i was gunna let it go on my mates farm but it died on the way there I was gutted n realised I shouldn't of done it n also after someone a lot more wiser also explained the error of my actions I never ever did that again, hares are amazing n sometimes don't get the respect they deserve adults should at least know better otherwise how can young lads learn to respect land n wildlife.. 6 Quote Link to post
