Tiercel 6,986
As I said in the other thread, it is not the governments sponsibility to create employment on people's door steps. It is down to them individual's to get out there and find work. If you cannot live on the money you are currently earning, then get an additional job, get a better paying job or lower your standard of living. Your real name is not N Tebbit by any chance? You epitomise every thing that is bad about capitalism......Fcuk you yak I'm all right!!!!! TC Edited October 3, 2013 by tiercel

You epitomise every thing that is bad about capitalism......Fcuk you yak I'm all right!!!!! TC Whilst I think the Government has a responsibility to create employment, (Although they seem to be doing a good job of exactly the oposite) I do believe if you can't afford it, you can't / shouldn't have it! Heard some daft woman on the radio just last week saying it was her right to have as much children as she wanted, and the state should pick up the tab......utter p*sh! I may like a 5 bedroom house in the centre of London.......But I can't afford it, so it won't be happening! I would like to have the fancy BMW ........ But I can't afford it, so I won't be getting that either. If you are sitting in a 4 Bedroom House, and only need 1 or 2, why should the tax payer fund it? If the required 1 or 2 Room option isn't available, that's different, The respective council or who ever should make allowances for that, and maybe get their act together and rip down all these derelict buildings that are kinda just sitting there and get some housing built. (As opposed to allowing the building contractors 'expand' the town / city boundaries with fine new 3/4 room houses, for which they get their VAT back, and then sit back and rake in the 'bigger' Council TAX these generate) As for the guy** who has just said he needs that extra room to accommodate his wife's condition, again, there has got to be allowances for this kind of situation. Some severely handicapped people have a lot of equipment they rely on just to get by, this kit takes up a lot of space too, there's no way they should get penalised if they have a 'spare' room. (**Sorry, your comments are back a page, and not sure if I can go back without losing all I've just typed )

stabba 10,745
So..after all this...the council still decide to let 2 bedroom houses to a couple without kids...or a 3 bedroom house to a couple with one kid. The tax should have affected new tenants not existing ones. Load of bollox if you ask me. The council wont build when they are gettin £££££ of folk with extra bedrooms. They aint gunna get ££££ of folk without are they.
Tiercel 6,986
The benefit system is set at the lowest possible rate that a family/individual needs to live on for a specified period of time. That is how it has always been, now the goverment has decided that it was telling lies all along, people can survive on less than they decided was the case before the advent of this stealth tax. The principle of the tax and it is a tax just the same as an airport tax, insurance tax and every other tax that the goverment can think of. is that if you have a spare room you are blocking someone who could use that room. No one could argue against that principle, however, for it to be just and fair there has to be a way of opting out of the obligation to pay it, and as has been stated there are exceptions where it should not count. Typical of this tory goverment there are no exceptions and no matter what the circumstances are you have to pay it out of your means tested benifits. The prime minister admitted yesterday that he did not even know what the cost of a loaf of bread was. How far out of touch are these policy makers? It is them and their ilk that has caused this mess and we the common people have to pay for it. This is a fudal system, only far worse in that you have given people a taste of milk and honey, only to take it away from them because you are not getting enough caviar and champagne. unlacedgecko 1,466
2500 council tenants have applied to downsize to a one bedroom property in this area ,only 20_25 1 bed/properties exist. All are already occupied. Brother in law has been on list for 4 years now and has to pay bedroom tax. Could UNLACEDGECKO come up and solve our little problem for us, or phone our MP SIR JOHN THURSO and get it fixed. Thank You. When I first moved to the South West I couldn't afford to rent an entire house, so I had to take a room in a house share, living with 2 complete strangers. Why can't childless council tenants be put into house shares? That would be my answer to that particular problem...

dtw 42
The tory boys would love that Paulus, I'm not very political; but have never seen any other goverment do such a P.R. job on the unemployed and disabled.
