BORDERSCOT 3,816
average opinions please cheers relic2 My opinions are always very average...and not much use.... But for what it's worth I think the 3/4 grey - 1/4 whippet would be bigger..... Quote Link to post
alan81 110
in one cross you have 3 breeds and lets say you have 9 pups they could all come to 1 type or you could get 3 different types of pups. with the more crosses in the mix the less sure you can be of how they will come. a greyhound crossed with a whippet/hound has 2 crosses of similar type so id say the 3/4grey/whippet could come taller 1 Quote Link to post
relic2 19
would a 3/4 whippet grey be smaller than a collie grey whippet cheers Quote Link to post
Hot Meat 3,109
When you add greyhound and whippet to the same dogs, you could end up with either or, I was brought up not to mix the 2, iv seen loads do it and seen some handy mutts bred with both in, but I wouldn't mix the 2. I like a fair idea as to what I'll end up with Edited October 22, 2013 by Hot Meat Quote Link to post
Chid 6,526
i know of a litter of whippet greys , dog was 22" bitch was 20" and one of the pups made 27" ... having greyhound in a lurcher could always produce a big un , if you want something small stick to a whippet x 1 Quote Link to post

These are litter brother and sister at 12 weeks. Deerhound and whippet in there so 2 extremes... Brindle is the bitch... Quote Link to post
Hot Meat 3,109
Gaz I was brought up getting told that, these days I still live by many of the wee rules/sayings I learnt back then, but and with the mutts there usually a but somewhere, I understand not everybody needs/wants an even litter, I do, and in doing so the pups would mostly suit folk that do a similar job as me with there mutts, some guys don't mind a hit of variance in a litter as usually no 2 folks who to come to look litter will be wanting the same thing, some will prefer a whippet type, others may be after the bigger pups, I however if I ever breed will do it for me and a couple f close mates so hopefully we will end up with a nice even litter.. 1 Quote Link to post
birddog 1,354
even with just 2 breeds involved there can be big variance........my belle is a lightmade 26 her brother's a hefty 32.......one of the joys of lurchers eh ......you pays your money ............. Quote Link to post
