Tap into the water somewhere, wood burner for warmth....you'd be laughing although yeah like BIGLURKS says, fridge/freezer might take a lot to run

unlacedgecko 1,466
There is an excellent book called 'field to farm' which road maps the transition from an empty field to full on home stead, legally and with full planning consent. Google it. Im on the phone at the moment but will put a link up when i get home. edited by paulus http://www.fieldtofarm.com/

Tyla 3,179
I am in the process of setting up an eco camp site, wood fired showers, compost toilets etc it seems the hardest thing is to dispose of grey water. Environment Agency has got some strong powers if they catch you out. Youtube search for off grid living brings up a lot of interesting stuff

Wullz 408
My mechanic has done it, bought a bit of land of the farmer, has built some hard standing, 3 big garages....uses 1 garage for all the machine, lathes, mills etc and the other has the workshop in, lift and tools etc. Third garage, huge door....and he has parked his caravan inside it....got planning to make it into a house and he is taking his time doing it....10 years there so far!! He loves it....its as warm as toast in there during the winter and cos the van cant be seen, he has no hassle from anyone....

That is on the cards but we are very close to, and higher than, a water course and a pond so there is a bit of discussion going on
