Philluk 181
I don't do these write up's very often but thought this was worth it. A few weeks ago I put a new high seat up on land I've shot for a while, I have a hide in the corner but the farmer has just planted crops so thought it would be attractive, I angled the high seat at a wood I also shoot and if we say the sitting facing forward position on the high seat is 12 o'clock. I arrived at the land after taking the dogs rabbiting for the afternoon and meeting the wife to swap around and she drove off with dogs and left me to the deer, I was in her jeep and the binos, my hat, gloves, and face cover were all in mine. Great I thought, ok lets see what will happen so I climbed loaded and sat in the new high seat, it wasn't long before I saw movement to my right at 2 oclock and a Roe doe popped out and walked along the hedge, I lifted the rifle and watched her graze walk around and as she became more right handed my owl impression was not good as the body does not twist that far, I kept looking as she went right handed and was now at my 4 oclock position and went behind some bales stored in the field. After a few mins she was due to come from behind them when I saw her at 5 oclock still grazing but standing still, then a double take and right enough my roe had become a fallow and changed sex, this was going to be interesting as I could turn but I couldn't shoot, I moved around and did what I could but there was no way I could take a shot. I then turned around and made out I was going to go down the ladder whilst carefully resting the gun on the side of the seat I was safe and comfortable and zoomed in on the head and without knowing what day it was he went down. I turned sat and thought that would be all but maybe give it half an hour to see if any foxes pop out. Just when I thought time was up I noticed something moving in the hedgerow and watched a fallow with her young come out and wander about, they did the usual walk eat look, walk eat look, and came my way, as I slowly removed the phone from its case she looked around but never saw me, the only thing she did see was the flash of the camera as I shot her with the blackberry. a good night even though I did forget half of my equipment. 1 Quote Link to post
