Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
Now then! After a hard morning of being up early after a late night, and going for a massive breakfast (big mistake!) before we played footy for a few hours I got home and was absolutely nackered, so had a nice hot bath and a cold strongbow and was going to have a relaxing evening... However, after a couple of cans I decided I really wanted to go shooting for an hour, haven't been all week and as soon as I looked at the hw100kt .22 all lonely and neglected just sitting there calling out for me to give her the life she deserves, I had to go! Even if it was quite windy and about 1 hours decent light left.. So off I rushes to the permission with just the rifle and the 2 mags in my pocket, no cammo on, no rangefinder, no knife.. nothing to help me, just me and my instincts! had a walk around, its only a small place and nothing was about really apart from 2 very concealed woodpigeons and a rabbit that I bolted out of the brambles, that did one 150 yards over the field! Light was now 90% gone and I knew it was make or break time, one quick walk back to the other side of the permission where hopefully a late showing rabbit would have come out just before dark. its a nice undisturbed corner of a field with a low wall and a few trees to use as cover when stalking up to the warren that's in the field. a good quiet stalk using a tree as cover, with the wind in my face I looked over the wall where I thought there would be a rabbit sat but there wasn't, but there was one just to the right hand side a bit, through a very convenient hole in the wall, that I estimated at 30-35 yards. got down on one knee and looked through the scope to get a better idea of the range, slightly blurry and the head didn't look as big as it should have on 10x mag... must be 40-45 yards then I thought to my self as I lined up to take the shot. after checking the zero 4 shots producing a nice 3/4 5p size group off to the left at 35 yards when I arrived to get an idea for the windage I was ready. I lined up giving the rabbit 1.5 mildots holdover, and the breeze was going right to left so I accounted for that by giving 1 mil of windage I took the shot from the kneeling unsupoorted position, and feeling like a sniper I watched the rabbit roll over as I followed through my shot! well chuffed with that, but when I got there the pellet had impacted low on the rabbit, and paced it out at 46 yards that's why, the rabbit with a now Slit throat laid still and motionless. entry and exit holes through the neck. and plenty of claret showing! took her home had her skinned and gutted and in the pan within 45 mins, for a very fresh and tasty Rabbit a la Supernoodles, with a fresh strongbow out the fridge. Thanks for reading, 1 SHOT SKoT NOTE the rabbit sat facing right. the pic with the noodles in the packet shows the EXIIT hole Edited September 29, 2013 by Skot Ruthless Teale 6 Quote Link to post

Elliott 436
Oh ny the way, yes that is a .22 pellet in the handle of my opinel Oh the old split a .22 pellet on a knife edge trick eh?! I filmed a decent shot with the HW77K yesterday. An empty HMR case perched on the tip of some barbed wire lased at 70 yards in a 10 - 15mph crosswind. I had to give 5 mil dots hold over and 2 mil dots for windage on x6mag. Took me three shots mind and when I ran over I found the bloody battery had gone on the camera I was gutted! 1 Quote Link to post

I do think .22 is best for hunting. Although i havent tried a housebrick (.25) slinger yet lol Quote Link to post

Craig Fosse 286
I don't think my s200 would have penetrated that with .177, would be interesting to see but I would never try just in case, watching a rabbit run off with a wounded neck would make me feel very very depressed 1 Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
I think it would! My .177 8.8 fpe hw97 went straight through a crows head at 40 yds Quote Link to post
