Some ferrets are just biters, some will moan an I don't care. But cull it a replace it

At 5 months, the ferret is,nt ready for work yet, before a ferret gets that age it should be safe to handle,if it is,nt then its not the ferret thats at fault.

It's like a potato gun but a bit worse

just picked up 2 myself, both little bastaxxs! can handle and play with them one minute next minute wanna eat me! should have known as came from a man with 23 ferts and is scared to death of them. first time ive ever had one actually bite and shake my welly like a terrier shakes a rat! only got em last week and had em out once bolted 7 for me in a little hedgerow warren so they can do the graft just need to learn some manners! put me knuckle so far down one of ems throat when it bit i thought it was gonna come out of its arse all it did was have a breath and lock on again! suppose thats why gloves were invented!!!! and as for the milk and honey on ya finger kind of crap that jus makes these hold on longer!! lol

How old are these ferrets mate?

If it's still young it will just need more handling IMO

All of mine can be handled easily, my little girl carries them about most days, every time you feed them pick them up, play a bit with them ( let them have a feed first), it can take a while but should come good....

Some will just be biters though for what ever reason, Personally trying to work a ferret that bites constantly would be no fun to me,

Is no no fun it makes you nervous to pick em up there about 5 months I handle them loads him more then the other hes a good worker straight down and gets em bolting but then pick him up and you can't I rag him sometimes to put him away with a rabbit ant the noise it makes and the damage to the rabbit it's unreal so vicious

5 months is still very young mate,

What age did you get it?

I'd lay off of the hunting with it and keep handling it....

Hot meat, I agree if you've got a ferret a couple of years old that starts biting or one that's had chance to mature and wont come round ( biters are a pain in the ass), but at 5months it's still a baby, it'll probably come round in time

Okay saying that lol it ain't you it's hanging off lol I agree to given chances an not just slapping ferrets with a spade at the first sign of it not being perfect. But really how much pain have you to take before you call it quits? If they bite regular an often when handled regular then it starts to hurt, no matter how manly you are lol the odd bite off a ferret is sore but repeated bites on bites is enough to put most do off. Especially a newbie. If the op thinks or believes he has done all he could and had resorted to smacking it, then it's probs best it gets sent to the big warren in the sky lol sorry if it sounds heartless but fact is I keep ferrets an I put a lot of time and effort into them as a few on here will tell. But I'm also a realist lol

At five months its having a laugh with you, its how young ferrets play, I bought an 18 month old unhandled cage hob that I had snipped just to keep my jills in order, and he's an utter b***ard for biting, even the Mrs uses a glove if its her turn to clean him out, just the way he is, but then I didn't buy him to drop down my trouser leg

I've a jill here that was a nightmare up till about 6 months.... put your hand in the hutch and she'd be on it, drew blood a couple of times.. tbh i'd had enough...

she's 3 now and is a cracking little worker and the kids can handle her as much as they want....

Personally I think he's still young, but it aint my ferret and aint my problem
