Tornado1979 145
Well I've finally send my application off for Firearms + Shotgun certificate today, Gun safe has been ordered and I’ve got first offers on a friends dads set up due to him retiring. (Once I get ticket) Had some interesting conversations today though, called BASC firearms helpline whilst filling application out and they advised me to add just add one permission to application one with most land and keep it simple, I’d printed Google maps and put a pack together covering everything which I thought was a good idea, the gent at BASC said don’t bother if they start requesting everyone does this in future just makes it more complicated for everyone, and just get ticket then worry about other land after you’ve got your ticket. I then thought I’d double check and went straight to the firearms department and check, they said total opposite to BASC and said the more info I provide the faster the application will be. Anyway I’ve sent it off with all maps included, so just got to sit back and wait for phone call now. I’ve had to sell my HW100 to fund so I’m currently without a gun till everything gets sorted, hopefully not toooo long Quote Link to post
Elliott 436
I was in the same boat and to be honest, if your FEO is the same as mine BASC are right. What I mean is I'm on a closed ticket, as you will be for your first, but that doesn't mean I can't shoot anywhere else. All I do is ring my FEO directly, tell him where I want to shoot if I have a new permission and he either says yay or nay. If your FEO has similar knowledge of the area like mine I suspect he / she will do the same. Adding every bit of land will only take longer for your ticket to be processed if it's an 'office woller' that has to walk each bit of ground listed. Oh and by the way, if you can try to keep hold of your HW100. I sold mine to fund my HMR and wish I could have kept it 1 Quote Link to post

I called for advice with something else on the application and mentioned I'd got all google maps etc printed off which started the conversation, I expected Consistency, not that i've chosen to ignore BASC, to be honest they were very helpful with all other info, just confused due to me speaking to another advisor at BASC previous week who advised me to add maps, surly they should all be passing the same info over. Anyway I've sent if off now with maps so no drama Quote Link to post
