CWN-HELA 228
As i finished work early yesturday i headed out with the pack, the pups are coming on great, and the mother not far from been fully fit and in great shape. On the way to the permission heavens opened, great no wet coat, we walked down a drive with big hedges and alot of marsh and trees, no stock in this erea so you can imagine how wild it is with runs every where, getting half way down the drive the pups take intrest in a run and start pushing on inn, so i stand back and leave them be for a few min to have a good smell around, they where out nothing, 100yards down the mother took a line and she opened up very quickly, the pups where in the hedge like a flash some where running inn and out with excitement, the mother was heading down the hedge in full cry so i ran like a whippet down the hedge to spot the ginger rabbit, i got to end of headge and nothing bitch was looking round where the line had gone, the ginger rabbit had crossed a ditch and taken another headge to the right, she was back on track and in full cry going up the headge, i tired pointing the pups in the direction in the the run some entered and some where still smelling around, again i ran like a whippet to try and spot the ginger rabbit by this time the bitch had gone to the end of the headge and was heading left up another headge on the field, heading to a big cover the pups had caught up with me and the mother, the mother was looking for the line under some thick cover where was dry, and she headed up to a run in the corner and pups be hind her, she entered the cover and opened up in a few seconds she was gone out of sight i waited in the same place and let the pups correct them self and let them find the line after a few min they had gone, by this time the mother was in full cry taking the ginger rabbit east away from me, 10min went by 1 pup came back to me.I waited another 5 min and it was silent, give a few short loud calls on the horn and waited wasnt to long and another pup was back, give a few more louder calls on the horn there was another 1 soon back, to get the last pup and mother back must of been 20min from when i started calling them back. As i had them all back and gave them some fuss, i headed back to the van just be for reaching the road the mother took a line with a few pups be hind her and the otheres in other direction smelling, this hedge was so thick there was no way through, i headed for the road and ran like a whippet to the next gate, the mother was in full cry going through the marsh and trees not far from where we started, i didnt know which way the bitch had gone so i couldnt get the pups on the line and the pups that went with the mother well she left them be hind, i stood in the marsh listening to the bitch go and she was going well on the line, the pups could hear her go and they started pushing on through the marsh looking for the line, but it must of been far away, i listened for about 15min and ginger rabbit had headed for the big cover, i could hear the bitch she was far away and her voice started to faint with distance. after about 25-30min could hear nothing was very silent. I started my walk back to the van giving a few calls on the horn half way back the mother was with me, they where all boxed up soaking wet and had a good run. hear is a short clip of the bitch on the second chase. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxx8RB97dlI CWN-HELA 2 Quote Link to post
