Country Joe 1,411
A £515lb and a £400lb fish..................at £10-15 a lb i'd be throwing f**k all back!! thats why it got chapped on the head! like i say thats market price "black" fish are half that but still a pretty penny! Can see why there on the endangered list then................f*****g unreal money that!! like salmon their worth 10 quid a pound and thats poached prices! was their not a 1100lber caught off ireland a few years back? the record bluefin (market price not weight) sold for over 1million $ "Think i'm going to need a bigger boat"............... 968lb, 2001 and new Irish and European record and only 300m from the shore! How the feck could you bring that in on a rod and line, must have taken hours. Quote Link to post

perthshire keeper 1,239
How come he cant sell it because of eu rules time we told them to get to feck hmm indeed we have minimum landing sizes for them as well as sword fish Quote Link to post
Jord M 148
Think they have to be 73inches to be kept, seen 1300lb 1 caught on wicked tuna they get up to 30 dollars a lb. the 400lb 1 what they supposedly let go will just be bullshit, as it says there doing paid fishing trips so I'd bet there just trying to lure people in and charge them a fortune to go try catching 1, which they never will that will be a total 1 off Quote Link to post

Tiercel 6,986
How come he cant sell it because of eu rules time we told them to get to feck He cannot sell it as he does not have a licence to fish commercially as the boat is not registered. Same with anyone who sets nets or fishes for sport, are not supposed to sell their catch. Unless they have a licence. TC Edited September 28, 2013 by tiercel Quote Link to post

NEWKID 27,205
That's a cracking fish, It's becoming quite a big thing off of the West Coast of Ireland now, with a couple of charter boats catching Tuna regulary and running trips, so I don't think it's the one off as suggested. From what I've heard the shark fishing this year has been very good too, with one lad I know on a boat from Looe which landed 16 blues in a day with some good sized fish, big gam fishing is going to get bigger and bigger IMO in this country, what with the shifting of the currents and modern technology, Pollack and cod will be so last year As far as catching them on rod and line if you get the chance read Dream Fishing by Trevor Housby, he's had some unbelievable experiences inc a 9hr fight with a Tuna around 1000lb using a cork handled rod, when the rod was flexed for so long the cork started to split and blister his hands, then they started to bleed ( he wouldn't give up the rod as it was a potential record) he caught the fish, but fished no more for the rest of the week as his hands were bandaged.. ..
