Day Out Ferreting

Had another look out today,,, vin got out of cockerpoo sitting,, and was aloud out,,,

 

First little warren two bolts,, no nets,, dogs cought one,, and missed one,,, but it ran to the next warren just 20 yard away,,, so nets down on this next one,, they started to rattle out of this warren,, although somhow we missed 2,, wich dropped back in further up this nettle bed,,, shame as ruby the border nearly nailed one on the run,,, ,,

 

3 nets down where ruby was marking,, ferret in and 1 second later 1 out,,,lol,,, I moved on to another warren and left vin,, he cought 2 more whilst I eventually managed 4 out the next warren without nets,, dogs making some nice catches.

 

By now we had 13,, all fairly quickly ,,, so on to a banking,,, it's a big long bank,, over a hundred yards,,, but instead of our usuall bang the long nets round and across,,, we just netted a few holes at one end,,,,a few on the walls and after an hour or so we had another 10 laying on the grass..

 

Next warren further along just a smallish place,,, but next to a wall,,, we netted some of the escape holes through the wall,,, but needn't have bothered,, as all 6 were accounted for by the nets on the holes,,,

 

Over the wall on to the next section ,, Venus did ok here hunting a few up and making some nice catches,,, from the rough cover,,a few more were added by the ferrets,,, and on to the last warren almost in the middle of a flat field,,, just the place to bolt for the dogs,, well 5 mins later,, 6 dead rabbits lay at our feet,, with no effort from us humans,, great sport..

 

All done for two o'clock ,, walking back to the motor Venus cought another from in the open feck knows where she found it,, end total was 48, so a good day with very little dramas.

 

Vin has some pics and a few bits of film hopefully there's a great pic of a run through a wall,,, only the hole is halfway up the wall,, you can see the smother rock and it's stained from years of rabbits dirty feet,,

What a top days bolting..some incredible catches from all the dogs..but Venus was on top form today,She made my 2 look stupid a few times today..especially the last one of the day..she ran into the pup and somersaulted over her and still managed to catch the rabbit while the pup was trying to work out what was going on. . .class.
