Gaz_1989 9,539
Knocked this up earlier from a sheet of 18mm ply it found kicking around at work. I've got 2 ferret boxes, one is too small and only takes one Jill. One is too big and is like carrying a coffin. This is in between the 2. Would take 3 small Jill's or 2 Hobs with ease. Needs air holes, sanding, staining and strap fitting. I wanted something heavy duty that will last and take some stick. Should do the job... Quote Link to post
Hot Meat 3,109
Will be cool for 2 but you ever tried putting 3 ferrets in the same compartment lol it takes some getting used to lol box looks okay tho Quote Link to post
Minkenry 1,044
LOL I don't know if it means the same thing in British English or not, but where I'm from if something get's "knocked up" it was impregnated LOL In America if you say, "I knocked this up..." you would then expect to see a picture of your now pregnant girlfriend lol Edited September 26, 2013 by Minkenry 3 Quote Link to post
B.P.R 2,798
Looks good... better than mine was 18mm is thick as fook...and be heavy too ... Edited September 26, 2013 by Blue Pocket Rocket Quote Link to post
lifelong cumbrian 1,826
Gaz, it must be heavy mate. I know you already had the wood but that with 3 ferrets in will be very heavy. Just my personal opinion but I just use 6 mm and 3 mm for the back. The box below is 6 and 3mm, very light. I also use small hinges and bolts, everything to make things light. This box will take 4 jills easily. 3 Quote Link to post
moxy 617
Looks a tidy effort mate but its a good job your a big lad. Atb Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
As I was cutting the sheet the first thing I thought was its a bit on the thick side. It's not as heavy as I thought though. It's too heavy to carry all day with 3 ferrets in but to be fair most of the places we ferret is 5-10 mins from car max and then it's just carrying it from set to set. I've had a few of the single ones made from 6mm ply that haven't lasted a season. Hoping this is pretty durable and double as a seat for a 17 stoner Best box I've ever used was from you Moxy, fantastic bit of kit, but I'm skint This was never going to be a Moxy box! Lol. Gaz_1989 9,539
That'll be brutal to carry. Light and bow backed is the way to go! Brutal? That's a bit harsh. It's only a wooden box I'm sure it will be fine. The one I'm using at the moment is 24" x 8" x 8" with 2 compartments, made from 12mm ply and it's like carrying a coffin. Quote Link to post
