OldTrapCollector 377
I'll stick to my 3" anchor pins,...'If it ain't broken,.why try and fix it ' ?..... Me too - not that I am an afficienado of long netting by any means. I had some 3" nickel fox net rings welded to 8 inch steel pins years ago and they are what I use on my webs. OTC Quote Link to post

GOOD OLD QUALITY EQUIPMENT , FITTED WITH WELL PROVEN END PINS SUCH AS NETRIGGERS FOR ME ANYTIME ALL THE BEST DUCKWING Duckwing, I agree with you completely about young lads starting to catch rabbits, its not the quality of the equipment you use, but the way that you use it. This skill can only be gained by getting out in the field regularly, being very observant, and being taught by GOOD men. On the other hand if you buy good quality equipment it will last you a lot longer than cheap rubbish. I am asked regularly what the best purse nets are, Lots of people seem to be looking for that magical purse net made from some imaginable material that can be thrown over any rabbit hole, and catch every rabbit. As you know its not the net that catches the rabbit, its the way the man sets the net. many times on dvds of ferreting by so called PROFFESSIONAL ferretters you will see men set purse nets without pulling the slack of the net to each side of the hole, thus stopping the rabbit from striking the net in the proper kill area, and not having the slack of the net ready on each side of the rabbit to encapsulate it. (is encapsulate the right word?) You know what I mean. Also, you'll see the drawstring of the net from the top ring to the peg laying on the ground like a snake. this means the net has got to move at least 6-10" before it starts to " purse" . The string in my opinion should be tight and straight to the peg, this makes the net activate fast. All these things are learnt over the years if you are observant and dont like to miss rabbits.!!! This is only my opinion after 48 years of regular ferretting. regards MASTERHUNTER Ps I look younger than I really am!!!!!! Quote Link to post

andy mecca 5
i have found out if you use 2 landing nets with cut down poles with the net removed for end pins you can easily carry 150yds of net by placing the hoops over your head thus leaving both hands free to carry your catch Quote Link to post
