I agree.  I work closly with vets and the veterinary industry and I believe insurance is what keeps the pennies rolling and the ship afloat. Its a blank cheque to some unscrupoulous vets. in many cas

All gone a little off topic but all things considered Insurance is the way to go IMO. Recently had a vet bill for £700 and lucky enough get on with my vets so can pay it monthly. I am today on the hunt for insurance for the dags, NFU, Direct Line and Pet Plan seem to be spoken quite well of. Anyone else got any others worth considering ?

Tesco's insurance seems to be good. Different policy's for what you want. They do an accident policy which doesn't cover long term illness for around £6.50 a month per dog. If your dog is going to be diagnosed with long term stuff would it be that expensive to source the meds yourself online ? Food for thought

Be careful, some companies wont deal with the vets direct and vice versa, so if your dog has £2000 spent on it, you have to pay the vets the £2000 and then put a claim form in to get the money back minus your excess.

If I had that sort of cash available then I wouldnt bother with insurance

With my Vet, with Petplan say the dog was injured, the Vet would treat the dog, you then fill in the claim form, the vet gets paid by petplan, then I just pay the excess.
