New Toilet Shooting Range

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I visited my permissions to let them know about my new car in case they thought someone dodgy was knocking about… or at least dodgier than me.

Whilst at my main permission I got speaking to the security guard, I mentioned about needed somewhere to zero my sights in before each session after a post I read from “DAZ39” the other day, he said why don’t you use the old cabins? He then directed me to some old cabins which are no longer used, obviously by this time I was like a kid in a sweet shop, the thought of having a little cabin with enough space to zero sights in…. is it Christmas again ??? :tongue2:

Anyway I arrived early this morning to check it out, I parked car outside the cabins, I entered through the only door and walked in, it then had doorways all way through the cabins, I measured up and it come to 25metres so 27Yards, not my usual 35 yards but I’m happy to take this has my new zeroing station. (might even wallpaper it and move in)

I then found an old fire and toilet knocking about, so this was my seat and bench, who else can zero from the shitter ?? :hmm:

After first shot I was shocked how far off the zero was 1” too high I soon adjusted and was hitting full 12 mag through target area so this will now be a regular part of my morning or night before going taking bunnies out. Just shows if you don’t ask you don’t

why is there a need to zero a scope on every session?

I have both air rifles and .22 rimfires, they get setup when new, and I would only ever check again, if I started getting consistent misses, they stay bang on 60yds all the time, and the rimmys get thrown about a bit

I'm not trying to say cheap scopes are at fault, as all my scopes are cheap, just wondering why some need to do all the time when others don't

Don't think there is any need every session, just read some of lad's do which made me check my zero and find it was way out, I only usually do mine when I get chance to go range, but don't think it will do any harm me checking now it's all set up at start of my permission

If it was high at 27 yards, it was probably still cock-on at it's original zero of 35 yards.

Nice one fella, as for the question re-zeroing each trip. I was taught that way, and it makes sense to be SURE that you hit where you aim. I nearly always need a couple of clicks in one direction or so, never more than 5-10mm off, but always worth a check.

Especially if you can do it inside, in the dry, on the shitter haha

some folk have all the luck.

I had another quick look at the golf course last night. 2 hours I looked, nothing again. I sware, not the smallest drop of rabbit crap. The only life I saw was a slug and 2 snails...got em both with head shots from 1 yrd....easy to stalk.

Nice one you did well to stalk the snails to 1yrd haha, I called into one of other permissions this morning still not use to land and they keep switching horses to different fields each time I bloody go, so have to change my stalking path, can't focus when horses are breathing down my neck.

Found some nice spots with good signs of rabbits, be perfect when I get out Thursday night with the lamp, seen a white rabbit running for cover today which was a first lol

Surely you can get better groups than that at 27 yards ??

haha yeah that was just first 4 pellets while I was adjusting mate, I'm the most feared rabbit hunter in yorkshire lol :angry2:

The 2nd most feared rabbit hunter in Yorkshire wouldn't have hit the target at all!
