Stretch177 39
The best way to tell if their fat, is run your hands along there rib cage and you should be able to feel each rib. If there too pronounced their underweight and if you can't feel them they are over. My Lakeland x weighs around 8-9kg and stands at 12tts, she has no fat but has good muscle tone. Are you feeding dry food or raw?? I found it easier to manage my dogs weight on raw as apposed to dry food. 1 Quote Link to post
chelsea 125
What age is she? If she was 9kg at most last year and this year she's 11kg was she a pup last year and now she's filling out a bit? Is she kept in the kennel? Are the kids giving her bits and bobs? Exercise and more exercise = muscle and muscle is heavier than fat. When was she last in season? Is she having a phantom? Are you still feeding her too much? I'd lie down in the heat aswell. There's no set weight amount for a dog and if she doesn't look fat then she isn't fat, if she looks fat cut her down a bit I know roughly what my dogs weigh but the only time I care is when I'm worming other than that your eyes are a better judge than scales as to what your dog should weigh. Have a lakie bitch 20mths old noticed shes filled out in the back area she is 8-9kgs is that ok Quote Link to post
