porkycrook 466
Hi to everybody i have an Airsporter MK2 that was given to me when i was a wee laddie. Somehow the stock got broke when i was a lad but it was given to a man who said that he could repair it. But he bodged it. Anyhow now i know i can do a better repair, so i am going to rebreak it and repair better. Now the gun was given to me by a real good family friend after my dad died (i was 12). I can remember him having a gun apart in his workshop but although i can remember it Bill can't. I know i can get a kit to service it's internals but the metalwork looks like black paint. So my question is did BSA at that time finish the metalwork with black paint (it is a very thick build up like an "Hammerite" type thickness), or should it be "Blued" it is the whole of the metalwork that is like this. Thankyou for any help. Roger Edited September 23, 2013 by porkycrook Quote Link to post

Roger if my memory serves me correct it was a type of plastic coating, looked very shiny the airsporter s was blued with an oiled stock complete with checkering, this is a picture from google Quote Link to post

3175darren 1,102
Paulus any idea what scope mounts to use on these old BSA's, and cant you get like a spray powder coating,??? Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
If it's a Mk2 then the original finish would have been blued all over (I think). They painted the trigger blocks on later versions from about the Mk4 but even then the rest of the rifle will have been blued. Someone please correct me here but I think I'm about right.
