My Arsenal.

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone as i'm new here and now out of the waiting for a moderator to check my every post i thought i'd post up some pictures.

I currently live on the South Lincs Border of Cambridgeshire. I'm looking for permissions around that area if anyone knows of any.

Stamford, Bourne, Spalding, The Deepings, Maxey that sort of area.

Currently The Arsenal consists of.....

So there they are, left to right Webley Valuemax .177 Green Synthetic stock. Webley Omega .22 and Custom Hw77 Venom .22

So Firstly the little Webley Valuemax, i bought this just over 3 weeks ago with the Hawke low scope mounts and a tin of accupells it came to a wopping £120. The scope i had kicking about. Right so first off, it is what it is. Having said that i was impressed with the balance and accuracy . i Bought it for my Daughter and her Boyfriend too shoot so no issue if they lose interest.

Over all it's pretty well made, shoots well and is a known make. There was a rather battered old Meteor for similar money or those nasty looking SMK chinese jobbers. I think this is agood choice for a beginner of young age and smaller young adults.

The Webley Omega .22.

i bought this on Saturday!! thats 2 in 3 weeks. Having had a couple of successful shoots with the Valuemax above with my daughter, her boyfriend and myself, my son decided he wanted to join in. Now as his life begins and ends 3ft from his bed where his xbox is, the oppertunity to get him out in the fresh air was one too good to miss.

When i went to the gunshop on Saturday i made him come with. We looked at several guns in the rack while Dave was doing his thing, "ok so have we budget in mind for the young fella" asks dave. That depends on if the young fella is really that interested, and we could see he was.

After looking at a crossman with tactical stock ( it's plastic) and a similar model in wood we both agreed the tactical was nicer but the wood stock version was better balanced and more comfortable. "i like yours dad" i hear him say but there arent any here and im not prepared to lay out that kind of money on a gun i think will be too heavy and may not get used alot. We looked at a HW57 which was a bit rough and £185 as is. I thought the webley might be on the heavy side and it looks rather long but its a good quality gun and so i asked to see it...

Weight for me was nice, balance excellent and it comes up into the shoulder nice. The action is very smooth and quite light and he could handle it so here it is... this is as i bought it minus the gash camo and black tape around the end.

Which brings us to my

Weirauch Hw77 Venom Custom.

I bought this gun and stock in 1987 which goes to show you only need to buy a good gun once.

Currently it has a Venom Tune, Fully adjustable match trigger, Custom Walnut Stock, 4-12x40 scope fitted in the mid 90's, sling mounts and silencer adaptor although i have no idea where the silencer went!

To go on are polished Brass screws, Brass Trigger Guard and leather sling embosed "Weirauch Hw77 Venom"

So im looking at doing a couple of bits to my 77, stock repolish for one as it got scratched in the shop and it looks kinda dull, then it is over 25 years old and hasnt been refurb since new.

second will be a buffalo horn pad for the bottom of the pistol grip area. When George makes it!!

Lastly in January i will be taking delivery of a V-Mach Race muzzel brake/ Silencer, i spoke to Steve Pope about a week ago and sorted the details and he will be making it soon :)

Then its on to the Valuemax, i gave this to my daughter and her boyfriend to use. Its kinda twangy but in fairness its not a bad gun and shoots nice enough. i think the main issue is actually the stock, being a plasic jobbie its sure it hollow so acts as a speaker for the spring noise.

So we might strip it and either try and find a wooden webley stock that might fit or be made too or fill the plastic stock with expanding foam.

next Give the standard action a polish and re grease for now and see how it sounds.

then remove the foresite, it looks like a kind of funky silencer but its really just a plastic grip so that can come off and be replaced with a slide on silencer or i might get George to make one and screw cut the barrel end.

Have a good Christmas Everyone.

Time for a little Update.

So before Christmas i ordered some parts from Steve Pope @ V-Mach. They were for the January prodution run.

I got a text to ay my order was complete on the 15th, so i phoned, paid and had a nice chat about the order.

Well postie knocked on my door at 10.15 the very next day. How did Steve know to complete my order on the week i had off?

:toast:

Well didn't take long to get all the bits out.

Awesome quality.

Ok so this isn't a 60 second mod!

It's not for the faint hearted and does require a degree of ability a bit higher than that required for fitting a scope, trigger guard or set of sling swivels. Don't think you are going to tackle this with a poundland screwdriver set and £3.99 set of petrol station sockets.
