Tornado1979 145
After securing several permissions my 2.4 Petrol car has been costing me a fortune trying to visit them all on a regular basis + limited boot space, this week I decided to look for a cheap runner for my hunting trips and work. I started looking at 4x4 which would be good for hunting but not so good for work, so I decided to look at estates just for the little extra space. I found an old Audi A4 1.9 TDI estate, it got very impressive 65MPG on way home yesterday which is massive improvement on my 20/25 MPG I've been getting out of the 2.4 Petrol. It's also got a rubber mould in boot so I don't have to worry about the bunnies messing the carpet up which is added bonus. Week off work next week so looking forward to getting out without it costing me £30 a trip. The wife's not happy that I've sold our family car, but i'm the boss haha Quote Link to post

Ouch !! My permissions are all local and it was still hammering my pocket so an hour drive must cost you a fortune mate, I've spent more time at petrol station than the bloody staff. 1 Quote Link to post
DenBell 149
You might have guessed I don't go there much. I've got a couple of local permissions and although they're alot smaller than the one further away I use them more. 1 Quote Link to post
porkycrook 466
At the moment i am running a 1.9 diesel Ford Galaxy which (touch wood) has never played up and is now full of car park damage, nobody ever own's up or leave me a note. When you run it at sensible driving i can get 60mpg regular, but when money is a lot healthier and also i'm healthier the Audi estate is my next purchase. At the moment my permissions do not need 4wd so i clean car would not be a problem, but would i want to take a clean tidy road car into the field? 1 Quote Link to post

I'm same all my permissions are on foot so no need to drive through field, picked Audi up for dirt cheap due to it being a old one, I'd of been happy with any diesel estate anything to get me out.. I had eyes on Peugeot which was on 04 plate but one of lads said Audi lump will run forever so trusted his judgment. Hoping to test it out in morning. Quote Link to post

Yeah had a look at a few local, 30 to 50k on the clock. 6 to 7 grand depending on coulor and plenty of finance options to take the strain off my pocket. Ideal. Strange an all because skodas were a joke when I was a bairn. Vw sorted em right out. 1 Quote Link to post
