Squirrel_Basher 17,100
If p***y is saying his dog will do 5 in a day ,any day then thats the bit I would question too ?. Butler -100 digs a season to one dog ,thats just over a dig every 3 days. For a dog that dosnt get smashed and is in its prime then its well do-able .Must take into consideration that some will be in and outers and not all dayers though . Maybe you need to look and listen too! . Quote Link to post
Guest pikey
TO BE HONEST LADS ITS GETTING QUITE EASY FOR ME BY YOUR REPLIES THE LADS THAT ARE DOING THE DIGGING , AND THE LADS THAT HAVE SEEN A LOT OF DIGGING IN THERE DAY !! WHEN I DIG MY TERRIER ITS AFTER THE DIG THAT I ACCESS MY DOG FOR INJURYS, IF HES GRIPPED THE GAME IN THE AREA THAT HE DOES ON MOST DIGS THEN ITS ON TO THE NEXT DIG, IN ALL MY YEARS DIGGING I HAVE NEVER HAD 5 DIFFERENT DIGS WITH ANY TERRIER IN ONE DAY. BUT I HAVE HAD LOTS OF DAYS WITH 5 DIGS. NOW STEVIE G, HAVE A PEEP AT THE PHOTO I PUT UP AND YOU WILL SEE IT WAS TAKEN OVER 3 YEARS AGO, A FEW LADS ON THE FORUM HAVE PHOTOS OF THE SAME DOG WHEN I DUG HIM LAST WEEK..... TO BE HONEST A LOOK AT THE DOG WILL TELL YOU HES SEEN A LOT OF WORK, I AM AS HONEST AS YOU GET, WHEN IT COMES TO WORKING TERRIERS. I THINK STEVE G, THE REASON YOU DOUBT MY DIGGING NUMBERS, PERHAPS COMES FROM A TIME A FEW YEARS AGO WHEN I REFUSED TO GIVE YOU A PUP. IF I AM WRONG I WILL APOLIGSE, BUT I STILL KEPT THE PMS IN MY MESSAGE BOX, ILL HAVE A PEEP. Quote Link to post

Guest SKINNER
right folks looking for info on getting terriers started for fox work ,As someone who will never get massive numbers and is no where near as knowlegable as most on here i want some advice quiet simly because i'm a believer that if you dont ask you'll never learn ,so how do you lads get them going ,i've heard of people showing them at the end of a dig others just letting them watch whats going on and then giving them there chance once they seem keen enough o and the one i deffo wont be doing letting the young dog in next to an older dog even i know thats wrong ,my older bitch entered an earth her self whilst out mooching about when she was around 14 months and since then has never let me down on foxes but like i say i dont get many so she has never been worked hard ,had she been worked hard she may not have been as keen so whats the best way in you lads opinions thanks ZAPPY HOW DARE YOU ASK THAT QUESTION Quote Link to post
Guest pip
Stevie your misinterpreting my attitude im not meaning to be offensive,im just asking that i thought you worked whites, thats why i thought it curious if you asked p***y for a pup. Of course colour doesn t matter but some have their preferences , i prefer coloured terriers just simply because thats what im used to,also decent whites are like hens teeth in my area. Anyway starting a terrier in my opinion depends on the dog some self enter ,some need encouragement, read the dog and wait till his balls have dropped and he s mentally able to take as much as he gives. Butler 396
If p***y is saying his dog will do 5 in a day ,any day then thats the bit I would question too ?.Butler -100 digs a season to one dog ,thats just over a dig every 3 days. For a dog that dosnt get smashed and is in its prime then its well do-able .Must take into consideration that some will be in and outers and not all dayers though . Maybe you need to look and listen too! . Sorry but my season only lasts 6 months (i like to let things breed in peace) so for one of mine that would be a dig every day and a half and you couldn't count bolters . I have a kennel of dogs to think of not just one so that would be some going for the one dog IMO. But to tell the truth finding the game for a dog ain't the problem it's finding a dog that wants the work that often and to a high standard. Quote Link to post
allgame 0
so p***y do [bANNED TEXT] have to dig to every fox or is that just what [bANNED TEXT] call them "a dig" even when they bolt, dont [bANNED TEXT] use lurchers or a shotgun and just relie on digging on top of them Quote Link to post
