Pup Eating Its Poo??

Recommended Posts

I read somewhere that if a dog is smacked or even just told off for pooing where they shouldn't then they can learn to associate the poo with being told off. So they try to avoid being told off by, in this case, eating the evidence. Its unusual to see it in such a young pup, but that's the most likely explanation. Work positively, say 'good dog' when she does it where she should, but try not to tell her off when she does it where she shouldn't. With time and patience she should grow out of it. Good luck, freddie.

You read wrong, you come downstairs in the morning, cage full of cacky, you bollock the dog, eh, the dog wonders what the hell its being bollocked for, now then, to actually catch the pup, evacuating its bowels is a different kettle of cack. no what im saying, ive taxed my brain writing this, get the pup outside as often as you can, i know you cant do this during the night, but please dunna chastise it when you get up

There is that much preservative in manufactured dog food that it still smells like food when it comes out the other end. Never had a dog eat it's own crap if fed on a raw diet.

Also, if a pup is having to sit in a cage so long that it has to crap in there, it ain't being let out often enough. Also, try feeding at different times: if the pup has its last meal quite late, around 9 pm, it should be able to go all night without needing to crap. Also, make sure it does empty itself before you go to bed, even if it means wandering around the yard/garden for a while. Have a good game with the pup before you take it outside as it is more likely to empty itself once it has been running around a bit, than if you have just woken it up.
