Guest FOXDOG

One dog I have now saw its first at 7 months, was out for a dig and brought the lurcher to watch, I took out the fox and let the dog have a look and it did very well  It didnt see anything else with teeth till 12 months when it accidently met something very strong but I pulled the dog off before it killed it :):whistling: He didnt see anything till 16 months then and is now coming on 2 and doing the job well :clapper: But my mate has a bitch thats around 14 months and is showing no interest in things that bite back even when run with another dog so I dont know? It wouldnt worry me if a dog wouldnt kill them at that age as long as it was tackling them if another dog caught it. If it was just standing lookin I might be abit worried but you wont know till its fully mature. What age is your dog? :)

i tell you lads,i had a lurcher years ago that would nt look at a fox no matter what ,a lovely wheaten x greyhound,it was about two years old and i was thinking of getting rid of it,when one day on a dig she started to get very interested in what was underground,a fox bolted and she was onto him in a flash, took hold of him and got bitten for her troubles but didnt stop her,i think the fox was dead a half hour and she was still breaking it,that was the making of her and for the rest of her life she would take them day or night.

My bitch would not take a fox at all, she would course them all day but run round it, i had lost hope off taking the odd charlie, but while out ferreting one day a fox bolted out of the hedge i was ferreting, she was a changed dog, before i new what was happing she had it nailed. I made me a very happy man. Just give the dog time they can change over night.
