dangerousdan 16
Hi all. Just started target shooting and need a rifle. Someone is selling a hw97kt in synthetic stock (.177) with a hawk 4x12x50 illuminated scope for £330. Its 3 months old. Is this a good buy? Ideally id have liked a wooden stock as I think they look nicer but its not a deal breaker I dont think. Is .177 the right calibre for target shooting? Been reading up on sfs tuning too so could get this done at some point but not straight away. As its used, what should I look out for? Im going to shoot it at the range next week. Thanks. Dan. secretagentmole 1,701
.177 is best for target work and £330 for the entire set up does not sound too bad either (gun is £430 new from Redbeck and they are cheap). dangerousdan 16
Thanks. What should I look for in terms of the condition of the gun and scope? Do you think id regret getting synthetic stock? Quote Link to post
villaman 9,983
The gun you can buy for £305 - £345 new depends on what scope is on there . I only paid £290 V MACH HW97 kt synthetic tune with Hawke sport HD scope 2 months old with bag and two tins of pellets. I don't think its that good of deal Quote Link to post
dangerousdan 16
Scope is hawke sport hd mill dot ir 4x12x50. Seems this scope is just under 100 quid online? Quote Link to post
Gaz 177 263
Hi Dan, you might want to contact risingfriend here on the forum as he has a HW97KT 177 stage 2 tuned by SFS (Wood stock) possibly coming up for sale very soon, may be worth you contacting him? Re: rifle, very nice and I would go for 177 as more ideal / suited for target shooting IMO. 1 Quote Link to post

dangerousdan 16
Thanks for the heads up on a possible sale available. I can't PM the guy yet because I'm still too new. Anyone know if its local to the midlands? Quote Link to post
whistler1 26
If you can buy this chaps hw97 stage 2 tuned..snap it up.You wont get it for £330,but will be well worth it. The difference compared to a standard 97,is amazing. Quote Link to post
dangerousdan 16
I've just seen his advert go up, but unfortunately its over my budget (plus too far to travel and I don't want to risk posting after seeing the thread on royal mail). So the one I'm looking at locally, with the scope as above - £330 an ok price? I might be able to knock him down a bit maybe. Is there anything I need to specifically look out for when I see / test the gun? Quote Link to post
