Back At It, Tingly Hands Lol...

After a bit if messing we got our first " proper" day out today, we had planned to go on a new bit in Cornwall but with the awful weather predicted we called of off and went local.. Of course there wasn't a drop of rain..

We were to meet at 8 up the farm, I got there early to give the dogs a bit of a blast first... There were a few about and Bella was marking along a hedge row that can wait a month or 2 ( some frosts required first)... Then Mick rang me, disaster had struck he'd cleared the memory from his sat nav and couldn't remember how to get to the farm, he'd only been coming in this one for the last 3 years lol.. Start without me he said, so I did... I walked down through the first 2 big stubble fields where I knew there was an old oak tree with a fair warren underneath, sure enough bella marked confidentially, there were a few new holes from last time, and it took around 15 nets to cover.. 2 Jill's dropped in, and the banging started 1 out quickly held by Martha, then bella pulled a young one out....

The phone rings, " Kev I can't find the farm"... I try to explain as another hits the net and is held by Martha... I ring Micky back... Get half way through telling him and yet again I'm disrupted by a rabbit, it slips the net but Martha picks it up straight away...

Finally I see Mick drive past the field and wave him down, it's 9 now and he's a bit pissed off, he relies on the sat nav and there's a fair few places stored in there...

I was happy enough 4 out of the first bury, and the ferrets were back into their stride..

We decided to try a hedge along the top of the fields on the opposite side if the road, the good thing here is the hedge is broken up into small sets, and it's not too overgrown..

Bella marked under a big holly bush, it looked well use with polished runs everywhere.. We started netting and Bella crashed some hedge further on, a rabbit bolted and was just missed by Martha but he was back to ground for us to move to..

Stop nets, run nets and holes covered in went the ferrets and out came number 5, and that was it for this set.. I expected a few more as it was a fair size and looked really used but that's how it goes..

We walked further down the hedge, Micky's young lurcher marked a hole one side whilst Bella was marking the same set on my side... We decide not to net the holes as I had to be away for 1 and we were running out if time.. We netted the obvious runs and stopped either end with 6yrd long nets, the dogs would have to cover the rest.. Well it all went to plan for once with 4 rabbits bolted and 4 rabbits in the bag..

It was a good morning and 9 rabbits was a decent start, the young polecat from last year had done well, and was right behind a couple of bolted rabbits, so the new member of the team is away..

The litter Mick had off of my hob has came on well, he had 4 Jill's the lucky git.. Gave 1 to his mate who flies a hawk over them, and kept the rest..

Only took a couple of pics

The old oak tree..
