Hot Meat 3,109
Do you mean at night or during the day? Is the dog hunting up or blowing off some steam after he misses? Quote Link to post

Hot Meat 3,109
I know its hard but you must keep that lamp off whilst the dogs hunting up, even using it to check where the dog is, is just giving the dog what he wants, try an stay in on lighter nights, I've found young dogs try it on and hunt up more if there's a moon, whereas on a pitch black night the dog struggles an returns quicker. Same as some dogs only do it at start of night and soon settle down, could try and let the dog blow some steam off before lamping him, I had a birch a few years ago who wad really pushing her luck, ended up biking her for a few miles just before a night out and it sorted it. Have you tried just walking away as soon as you turn lamp off? That's how I start my dogs anyways. A click or recall whistle as soon as lamps off after a catch or miss and turn and walk away. Don't try this on your best lamping land tho lol let us know how you get on.. 4 Quote Link to post
