leegreen 2,221
Sorry to here that mate, but surely you could fox proof your ferret hutches/runs? Quote Link to post
whiteracer 258
I thought I had, I built a big run for them which I leave them in all day and then when I go bed I ll put them in the hutch which I thought was safer Quote Link to post
Jamie m 668
Gutted , are you using weld mesh or chicken wire ???? Quote Link to post
whiteracer 258
Weld mesh mate! I ll try and upload a pic Quote Link to post
BIGLURKS 874
Shame lad I had one in the garden the other night but if you have a lot in the area get your hutch as high as you can Quote Link to post
pie-eater 377
Weld mesh mate! I ll try and upload a pic Are you sure its not a person who has done this? Seems unlikely to me that a fox would push the weld mesh in. Anyway sorry to hear this hope you get them back. Quote Link to post
whiteracer 258
Not sure mate, the hutch is off the ground by 3/4ft just can't work out how the mesh has been pushed in.... Everything else is untouched Quote Link to post
Jamie m 668
Sounds like chicken wire ,???? Not good for ferrets , google weld mesh , Quote Link to post
joe14 98
Double mesh the hutches you know so mesh is on the outside of the door frame and the inside Quote Link to post
onthehunt 40
Upload a pic mate as I can't comment without seeing the damage. Seems too many people use chicken wire and setups that are simply not secure. nothing is 100% secure but there are things you can do drastically lower your chances of getting jacked may just require putting more work into your setup. dogger 100
keep the hutch in a hut with a wire door so you can leave the main door open during the day and shut up at night Quote Link to post
jrobsm1 5
my dog used to push in the meshing and kill my ferrets when I had the terriers so quite possibly fox or a dog getting in Quote Link to post
