12 Boreand 410 Slugs

has anybody got these on there fac and if you have what reason did you give apart from practical shotgun?

I've never heard of one being granted in the UK for live prey. I'm pretty sure most FAO's will just tell you to apply for a rifle.

 

Slugs have a reputation for ricocheting, limited range and are seen as a major danger to police due to their short range penetration combined with high bullet weight.

a friend of mine has one ......he simply told the police it was for fox control as he did not wish to own a rifle , he was granted the variation ,

north yorkshire police .

Wild boar would be a good reason

I want it for fox. 9 time out of 10 I have the shotgun with me and that is when I always seem to see them

Take your rifle with you more then

I wish I could, rabbits are very thin on the ground at the moment, but the sky's are full of pigeons and crows

Just use some normal (fox) cartridges? Some 0s or bb? I wouldn't think they would grant it for anything less than boar but then ask for AOLQ? maybe?

Don't know anything about .410 but I have 12 bore slugs on ticket for deer.

 

If you can demonstrate a good reason then there is no reason why they will not grant your request.

 

However, with slugs giving say a 4" group I would suggest No 3 shot a better bet for fox.
