Strong Stuff 2,171
Hi all, am in the market for a new gun, definitely not a PCP type, had a very nice MFR but it's a pain in the hoop having to keep a divers bottle too. So............. Have settled for Air Arms (made in England and all that) and can't decide between TX200HC or a Pro Sport, the Pro Sport is about a £100 more (both prices are for new, both with Walnut stock) Yes I know it's a lucky position to be in, but I've worked my balls of all "summer" to pay for a new gun. So, who's got what and what do you reckon? I think the Pro Sport has the same internals as the TX but a different cocking mechanism? Is it a 100 quids worth of difference though? Quote Link to post
Leon 0
Pro sport for me everytime Quote Link to post
mad al 146
Hello SS, I've got the Pro Sport in .177, it had been V-MACH tuned before I bought it and although it is a tadge on the heavy side, it is a very smooth, accurate and powerful piece of kit. Some say this is the best springer money can buy and it is the best I've ever owned. Never fired a TX, so can't comment on them, but a very popular rifle and I think I'm right in thinking that it is shorter than the PS, so could possibly be lighter. Al Quote Link to post
Strong Stuff 2,171
Thanks Chaps! So .......... I wonder how much extra I need to spend to get a V Mach one ............. It's going to to end up being the Pro Sport I'm thinking now, although I do prefer .22, only really because .177 is a bit fiddly in my paws! Keep the replies coming please?! Thanks! guns 13
hi mate I had a TX200 HC lovely little gun but if you have the money for a pro sport then go for the pro Sport. Quote Link to post
Guest king ratcatcher
There both as good as each other, the only problem with the pro sport, is its abit light at the front, which means muzzle flip, the tx200hc has the extra weight at the front becouse of its underleaver, a mate of mine had a tx200hc in .22 and it shot as smooth as silk Quote Link to post
oxo 441
Just got a walnut TX200HC .177 today, read all the rave reviews and chose that over a HW97, do not know what i was expecting BUT i am disappointed. Put around 50 pellets through it and to be honest my old shoots as well with a decent relube. The gun has had around 300 pellets through it by another owner so it could do with a bit more running in but i was expecting more with all the shoots great out of the box, best springer etc etc lark. My advice would be try before you buy, wish i had! Quote Link to post

Definitely be trying then, thanks for the advice, it must do something better than your HW80 ........ more consistent perhaps? (Just trying to find positives for you!) Quote Link to post
oxo 441
Like i say dunno what i was expecting a bit more WOW!! really, nice looking gun, shoots well enough but if its the best springer around things have not progressed that much in 20 years or so in my opinion. Get back to you after the weekend when i will have put more time in Quote Link to post
stubby 175
my firm supplied me with the TX200 .177 for our pest control work, my own gun being an S410 TDR, I thought it was gonna be a right pain in the ar$e, but after zero'ing it in the garden, and getting rid of the crap telescopic that was on it, and fitting one of my own, I LOVE IT....... PCP = Pain in the arse to me mate, have had about 5 or 6, best one was an MFR, got fed up having to dick around with the bottle all the time, I want a gun that I can get out, shoot and put away again. Apart from the thing that PCP felt a bit gay and lifeless ................. Quote Link to post
