B.P.R 2,798
Got two young jills.... around 6 months old.... Looking to get them neutered/spayed in the near future.... Would you let them have a season first?... Or prior to their first season? .... I had all my hobs done as soon as their balls dropped...which had no ill effect on them?... Will it be the same with the jills? ... Cheers Quote Link to post
RossM 8,149
I reckon you'll be waiting a hell of a ling time for the jills balls to drop........ 1 Quote Link to post

onthehunt 40
wait till they are 12 months to be safe so their growth will be complete. but do it before they come into season because a vet won't do it when they are in season cos chance of excessive bleeding. Quote Link to post
The one 8,524
Try asking a vet now I think six months might be old enough Quote Link to post
dpb82uk 138
how much dus that cost Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
In hindsight, you should have had a Hob snipped, saves a lot of grief But in answer to your question. I would leave them to mature fully before getting that done. Quote Link to post
Kaiserdog 20
I had two Jill's spayed last year at 8 mths old , no harm to their health £40 each at the vets. Quote Link to post
B.P.R 2,798
I couldnt get a hob snipped... all 3 were castrated before i got the jills..... And id rather neuter them.... saves a lot of hassle when im away... Cant get much more hassle free than that.... Quote Link to post
onthehunt 40
Neutering saves hassle but the health risks become apparent when they hit middle-age. Higher risks of adrenal diseases all those nasty things Best way is vac hob to service jills. I would never get a ferret sterilized as they are dependent on their hormones more than cats and dogs. B.P.R 2,798
Theres pro's and cons to everything in life... The jills are getting neutered.... Will probably wait til theyre mature though.... Quote Link to post
onthehunt 40
up to you mate but yeah like I already said wait to they are 12 months so they're fully developed. Quote Link to post
The one 8,524
I dont know there roughly the same as cats and i dont think they wait twelve months before the humble moggy gets neutered Quote Link to post
onthehunt 40
No ferrets are very dependent on their hormones to stay healthy. not similar to cats at all in this respect. You only have to do some research on the subject. Quote Link to post
GreyRake 108
Nine months for sexually maturity i think. I'd get them done just before their first season, December/January. Quote Link to post
