Huntermanic 22
Just my opinion but if you were genuinely interested in breeding your bitch. You would at least want to try it a bit longer. That is if you are wanting to improve the line. Breeding from untested to the full sires/bitches is the reason there is so many potlickers getting passed around. Your bitch could indeed turn out exceptional and worthy of finding a decent dog to mate with. But ask yourself this. . Why the rush. Only my opinion of course. In the end you will do what you want. But i doubt if any genuine terriermen would contemplate purchasing the resulting offspring. Yours in sport Pernod Understand ya mate, I see what ya saying. Should at least give her this season then wait till the spring. Thanks Quote Link to post
mackay 3,425
Feck me started her career at 8 months old...I have a bitch here 8 months old and It hasn't even crossed my mind when to start her! Its your bitch and your choice, but...if your in this so called circle LOL why not ask the lad to repeat the mating to try and get another like her rather than breed her? The only time id ever breed a bitch that young if I was on my arse with no one to help me and I was very desperate! sure if you're a decent enough lad lads will help you out. Well in my little circle (don't see why that is funny) we don't like to repeat breeding as with any dog, terrier lurcher etc when you repeat the same cross it never as good as the first litter of that cross. FACT. Any dog breeder/ trainer will tell you that. As for my bitch she is 2 years old. And you say you have a 8 month old bitch and she hasn't even cross your mind. I'd be pretty excited if she was my bitch especially as the season is around the corner, even if she doesnt dig yet she should be taken out and shown what is about, see what happens at the end of a dig let her see for herself, but that hasn't even crossed your mind???? You must play a lot of golf. Lol (now that is funny) Feck me started her career at 8 months old...I have a bitch here 8 months old and It hasn't even crossed my mind when to start her! So if a union between two dogs throws quality next time around they're not so good?. Breed your dog mate, you know you're going to. 1 Quote Link to post

dogger 100
Sounds like your in your own little circle by yourself if your coming on here for advice! thats fecking bullshit...never as good as the first litter why would that be then? Iv heard that little line of bullshit once or twice and id disagree every time. Iv got a young dog here both parents are now dead but id love to repeat that mating! Go on tell me thats why your going to breed because the parents might not be around long. Yeah I am pretty excited, the first 8 months have been socialising her over the summer getting her used to the sights and sounds of everyday life, the next 8 months she will be pegged out watching her mother, half brothers/sister etc do they job and she will be learning whats what, not entered at 8 months old. Golf be f*cked, you better take up up golf...your bound to have more knowledge in golf than terriers. how can she watch her mother if both parents are dead? 1 Quote Link to post

Breed your dog mate, you know you're going to. scientifically i can think of no reason why a repeat litter wouldnt be as good---but heres an example (a greyhound put to the same dog 3 times, first litter excellent,2nd two litters pure dirt) http://www.greyhound-data.com/d?breedpoints=399385 Quote Link to post

Huntermanic 22
Ok maybe I was wrong in saying repeat Mateing is never as good as the first litter And I shouldn't said FACT. that's just me I'm against it that's my opinion and it is debateable. I've never bred, mates have used one of my dogs but I've never actually bred. I've only taken their advice. I guess trial and error is one way to find out. Also want to bring some fresh blood in because she is line bred anyway. I've herd that bring fresh blood in then going straight to the bitches line can chuck good stock. Quote Link to post
