Rabbithunter 456
Whats the best age to get a hob castrated? Im going to keep two out of my litter & going to get one castrated. Quote Link to post
skycat 6,173
Why? So the poor little sod keeps getting b***ered by the other one all summer long? Our 2 entire hobs live happily together during the summer with no agression/violence of either a sexual or otherwise nature and they're not even related! If your's are brothers then there shouldn't be a problem: they might play about a bit roughly at times that's all. If your'e going to go down the castration route then get them both done. I managed to keep my two hob brothers in togethe without them being castrated, but it dosent always work, Ryan i would either get both done if yours dont get along next yr Quote Link to post
stubby 175
yup, id say wait at least until next year, and then see if they get on ok once they are sexualy mature, if not then get one done in my court I have 1 castrated hob 3 entire hobs and 5 jills, but all get on fine, once the jills come into breeding condition next year i then have the choice of either breeding or phantom pregnancy, with an extra spare cage/run system if separation is needed Quote Link to post
MikeTheDog 153
My two entire hobs are getting along fine, father and son.. If they become a problem next summer you could put a wire partition in their hutch, that will keep them apart but still in each others company.. ....Saves a few bob as well... Quote Link to post

Done right the op' should be a 100% sucess, I'm on my second jaffa and both have always fired blanks.. Quote Link to post
gnipper 6,435
Mike how is Domino doing? I've got 2 hobs now, 1 big strong silver killing machine and one albino hob who is the size of a jill so mine will definitely be getting seperated next summer, i've seen evenly matched hobs bumming eachother and fighting like mad and the little feller is being nobodys bitch at my house I've seen it in dogs too where the un castrated one is giving the castrated one a seeing too as they probably give off a confusing scent? I'd get all or non neutered personally. Gnipper Quote Link to post
