whipbed 42
up until recently i have been using tapered theraband gold and using 44 cal lead. to fire this ammo apparently requires double taperted bands [ the dimensions vary from one shooter to another] recently i started using 10mm steel and was impressed by the speed but found that lighter bands were more efficient and more accurate because they are a lot lighter draw. i also changed from double tapered 22mm to 11mm to single bands 30mm to 20mm and found the draw even lighter and more accurate. another benefit appears to be less breakages . does anybody know why this is ? also has any body discovered a single band set that is as good as double for 44cal lead.? atb
ben_70 8
I'm probably wrong because only just starting out but I think it's because the heavier bands need an heavier ammo to get the momentum needed so you need to match the ammo to the band lighter ammo lighter band but like I said I'm probably wrong lol Ben
Sheffield Catapults 71
1/2 inch x 3/4 inch x 8 inch .070 Latex will give you similar pull and speeds to double Theraband Gold Hope that helps!
whipbed 42
thanks for that, unfortunatley i don,t have latex . do you know the single equivalent in theraband gold Edited September 10, 2013 by whipbed
Sheffield Catapults 71
You can try double the size of the single doubles you are using.... However; I found when I did this that unless the catapult forks were quite wide then the bands could interfere with the ammo as it left the pouch. I was noticing terrible accuracy and noticeable marks on the rubber. You might have better luck than I did though, good luck
whipbed 42
thanks again never thought about band interference if too wide.. thats probably one of the reasons why doubles were created ,so i may have to stick with them or source some latex.. ta
