Purse Net Making

Recommended Posts

Been looking at the bonded nylon is it any good.

In my honest opinion I would not use it. I has to be double knotted, the diameter would only suit long nets and as it only comes in white it would have to be dyed. This is where the problem lies. If it was hot dyed it would shrink the problem is how much? On the up side when it does shrink it pulls the knots tighter.

Thanks thought I ask I stick to spun ploy & spun nylon.

Give it a go theres nothing like catching rabbits in nets you have made yourself

I learn't by getting a copy of Howard Glynns book called Net making for sport very easy to understand, give it a go.

I like the spun poly that's about in various dayglo colours, makes a nice net and easy enough to knit with.

Thing is non of the twines are made with rabbit /fox netters in mind, so it's just luck that it suits are needs!

So what weight spool is best to get .

The 1.2Kilo spool @ £14.95 including postage seems good value for money, if you were making a longnet you would get around 200 yards of stretched netting out of that. Thats what I will be getting.

Nope the one in the link is just a smigeon thinner than agouti's long net twine. It is not in my opinion suitable for purse nets.

For making purse nets this is the best twine out of the samples I received.
