Our education system is run by lefties by and large so they would never teach such a thing, they cant even acknowledge our fine achievements from when we had an empire......except to try and make us feel ashamed about it.

 

I have always thought that civil authorities should address members of the public as "Sir & Madam" like many of them do in the US.......its a good reminder that you are a public servant and not some little Hitler

Back in '89 whilst on a rugby tour, we had a reception with the local Mayor in a town in France. Small bits of food on big plates and Champange were served. Kind of wasted on 30 Rugby lads. The Mayor was a top bloke and joined in with the "Festivites" (We never treated him any different) untill the bar diving that is. He dipped out of that.

 

But a very nice looking young French lass didn't. She was well up for it. But she was stopped from jumping by the locals. Shame really.............

Glad they did WILF.Got my own house.makeing cash.Its not al bad.40 in one class.Most of our schools then waist of time and money.

I've been rabbiting on a few posh places over the years and found that it never hurts to say sir, its part of knowing your game ,if you don't say ,you don't get, simple .

Maybe that's where I get hung up a bit ...where I'm from and across the South , 'sir' and ma'm are general niceties used in conversation.
