BORDERSCOT 3,816
Mrs lost her Border x Lakeland terrier last summer....I bred him and he was a proper grafter but waaaaaaaaay too macho......retired at 18 months....she had a soft spot for what was left of him so he kicked around for the next 15 years..... It was her wee 'pet' she's on about another fireside dog......might get her a whippet........ Behave. Either a whippet....or I might be a bit more practical - meet her halfway and get something which might be of some use to me.... Like a Bichon Frise.... Quote Link to post

whippet 99 2,613
with out reading the thread,............names or lines or whatever you want too call it don't take long too go off track ,...especially the big commercial breeders .......the blood is thinned every time its crossed to a non related blood line,....... names / lines are non existant ,.......you should breed from the dogs you have seen work and not heard about...........keeping the blood tight and the pups you have given too mates , having all the feed back on the mating.......good dogs don't guarantee anything they just give you best possible chance of having a decent worker..... I think starting off is always hard to get a decent dog and we take chances ,.......but once you got the cream in your kennels ,.......stick too what you know and that would be your own workers , who do the business for you.............keep the bull shiters and the shite away,.....money wins the majority most of the time 1 Quote Link to post

Country Joe 1,411
Have a look at the post Rabbiting Dogs, there a lot of photos on there, different types that are used mainly for rabbits. do your homework on a type you really fancy, then look for a pup out of good working stock. Rabbiting man 1,192
Im going to go for a small lurcher lads rabbiting mans is exactly what im after cheers for info helped alot (apart from morton ) Thanks mate. You don't see many Collie x's bred this way. Like it's been said do your homework Like I did, by phoning, asking around & having a look at litters. I was lucky that a mate bred her has I do love Collie x's, cuz I could of ended up with a Bedlington/Whippet or a Whippet which wouldn't of been a bad thing has they are good little dogs.
