That baffles me that, how some see the English flag as racist :icon_eek: Fly them proudly lads, f**k the do gooders.

That's cos unfortunately it has been hijacked by some unsavoury groups over the last few years, but the English nation has had it a lot lot longer.

Since the time of the crusades, was it not? :hmm: They found it on their travels somewhere and adopted it iirc..

There is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word, which means more to me than any other. That word is England - winston churchill

He dragged us into a war which cost us our best blood and empire because a nation dare defend its people,is responsible for the downfall of the most advanced society that has ever existed and denied all European countries the right to remain homogenous oh and facilitated the continuation of communism.

What a hero.

Bit of a mystery actually. Some people say it was brought to England by Richard the Lionheart in the 1100s. Others say earlier, others a lot later. As St George was and still is ,Patron Saint of a lot of countries, it's a hard one to define.

Either way it's still the English flag and I'm very proud to have it.

God save the Queen :D ... says the immigrant ...

She was still your queen, even before you got here! :D

Always has been, always will be

Something I've found in my ten years in England ... seems I'm more patriotic than most English folks I meet :icon_eek:

Thats what you get when you are taught to be ashamed and guilty about your culture, history and heritage from an early age.. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's a damn shame.. There are patriotic English people out there and plenty of them, but in Wales and Scotland you are taught to be proud of your heritage and celebrate all things Welsh/Scottish from an early age in the schools. You don't get that in England..

Damn right. It's a crying shame that any form of patriotism in England seems to be twisted into "racism" by the lefty do-gooders. Boils my piss. Which makes me even more patriotic - and I'm sure many others feel the same.

The countryside, the people, the heritage, the curries  I love England, have from the first time I visited and stepped off the plane - I stopped in Watford and then drove oop North and just fell in love. I get fair defensive when people trash the place. I was the only one on my street with my flags out for St George's day this year. Makes me sad really :(

Poor wording on my part.

But by refusing peace talks he kept us in the war,in fact by not offering peace talks as soon as he was elected he betrayed our people.

People wanted us to win the war back then, the population was prepared and more than willing to make huge sacrifices for the greater good.. They wanted Nazi Germany defeated.. Contrast that with the people today who are getting their knickers in a twist about sending a few tomahawks to punish the use of chemical weapons in Syria. People today forget the comfortable lives they lead now are the result of the huge sacrifice of the generations that have gone before in the name of the greater good.. Lest we forget..

So sure l'm an Ulster Orangeman, from Erin's isle I came,

To see my British brethren all of honour and of fame,

And to tell them of my forefathers who fought in days of yore,

That I might have the right to wear, the sash my father wore!

Chorus:

It is old but it is beautiful, and its colours they are fine

It was worn at Derry, Aughrim, Enniskillen and the Boyne.

My father wore it as a youth in bygone days of yore,

And on the Twelfth I love to wear the sash my father wore.

Chorus

For those brave men who crossed the Boyne have not fought or died in vain

Our Unity, Religion, Laws, and Freedom to maintain,

If the call should come we'll follow the drum, and cross that river once more

That tomorrow's Ulsterman may wear the sash my father wore!

Chorus

And when some day, across the sea to Antrim's shore you come,

We'll welcome you in royal style, to the sound of flute and drum

And Ulster's hills shall echo still, from Rathlin to Dromore

As we sing again the loyal strain of the sash my father wore

The war was not in our interest, the people were manipulated.

The Germans fought and worked for the greater good not the British, which makes the tragedy of all who died all the worse.

Then and now we should only have fought to defend ourselves and expand our territories, not Jewish business interests or to settle debates between other nations.

Do you really think Hitler wanted a war with Britain?

He wanted us as his ally to defend from the west while he conquered the Soviet Union.

If he got his way we wouldn't have lost our empire,we would have added far more territory to it.
