C Hall 552
My dog went lame on his wrist just over a week ago! I had him to see the bone man last Saturday. He said its a bad injury he did say exactly what it was, some sort of muscle tendon damage and if it was detached from the bone he would not run again without the same happening again he couldn't tell me if it was detached last week because of the swelling. Took him back this morning and it is not detached it will take 6 weeks to heal but so what at least he will run again. To say I am happy is an understatement Quote Link to post

skycat 6,173
Well that is good news. The bitch I had who detached her tendon completely did go on to run again after a 4-5 month lay off, but she was never quite the same again, not that it worried her unduly but she couldn't turn the same as she once did. Hopefully yours will be fine. Zheng Gu Shui is amazing for tendon damage: get it on Amazon. Don't over do the application: one day on, one day off for a week, then lay off for a week, then same again. I use it for my tennis elbow and it is good stuff, though a vet did tell me that it shouldn't be used day in day out on a permanent basis. Like anything, too much can have side effects: he said it had caused skin changes in a dog's toe that he saw, but without concrete evidence to back up that statement I'm inclined to take it with a pinch of salt. I've been using it twice a week on myself for over 4 years and have never had a problem. Quote Link to post
C Hall 552
Skycat I am going to stick to the bone radial as advised from the bone man he has always been bang on with advise he has given me Quote Link to post
Rain 232
That zheng is the stuff mate better than bone radial. My bitch did the same thing. Lead walked her for 12 weeks. Gentle trotting after that and literally took my time with her. Quote Link to post
skycat 6,173
Bone Radiol is basically a gentler way of blistering, which is what they used to do with hot irons on horses with tendon problems. Nonetheless, BR is pretty harsh stuff, and overuse can definitely cause skin problems: I've seen dogs where the hair has fallen out completely, as well as the skin being very sore to the touch. I guess it is OK if used with caution, but use it sparingly. IMO, Zheng Gu Shui works just as well but without any problems. I haven't conducted any 'scientific' experiments with either product, so I can only say what works for me and mine. Quote Link to post

neilsherlock 226
Sky cat would u suggest light support bandages whilst working, if so, would u use Vet wrap with cotton wool underneath ? It's something I've been considering as it's the second leg she's done Quote Link to post
