andyfr1968 772
I contacted Deben again to let them know that their scope had packed up again after only a week or so of use and this is their reply. Talk about being fobbed off!!!! Hi Andy Thank you for your email, sorry to hear that you are having on-going problems with your scope. The following information applies to customers who have Deben products, but no longer have a proof of purchase. The proof of purchase is your warranty, without this, repairs are normally chargable, if that is, a repair is possible. Please return your scope to us and we will take a look at it for you, if repairs are not possible to your scope, then you are more than welcome to take advantage of the following offer. As a gesture of good will, we offer an exchange program for old, damaged or worn out products. Details are as follows: We will offer a brand new replacement at a 30% discount on receipt of your current product. Your new product is delivered to you free of charge. Your new purchase is registered with us and covered by a new warranty. We will dispose of your existing product safely. The exchange program is no quibble and in addition to your statutory rights. moxy 617
Am I reading that right? You will receive a 30% discount if you produce your receipt? Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
Am I reading that right? You will receive a 30% discount if you produce your receipt? It is a bit vague ain't it, Mick. I think they're saying that if I can't find proof of purchase (which I can't) that they'll now charge for the repair or give me a 30% discount off another one of their garbage scopes. I've given up on it and them now. My kids can use it as a toy as it's no feckin' use on a rifle!! Quote Link to post
moxy 617
Feckin joke mate. IF you produced your receipt for your old, broken scope, then surely they should fix it not offer you you money off another headache. Doesn't the repair carry its own warranty? Or is it a different problem? A lot will dissagree but your better off away from a hawke. Nothing but unbranded foreign crap which is imported and branded in the uk. IMO. Quote Link to post

I will contact them again, not that there's much point though. I got the thing from Guns International in Wakefield just before they shut down. They were practically giving them away, too cheap to pass up at the time. Turned out to be a total waste of money in the end though. I've never rated Hawkes. Nice features but shitty build. neil82 1,087
sorry, but if they have repaired the scope FOC the first time then they have accepted that is was under warranty, the repair should also be covered under the same warranty, if it is still not good then you have the right to reject it as not fit for purpose and they have the option to either try again to repair it or offer a refund, proof of purchase does not come into it as it is the repair that is substandard, time for them to put it right or tell them that this tale will be going to trading standards with all details going on every forum you can find 2 Quote Link to post

If they did agree to repair it I wouldn't want to use it again and I couldn't sell it on with a clear conciense knowing that it will probably just break again. In the very short time that I've actually used the thing, firstly the adjuster turrets went south which they fixed and returned. Then shortly after I got it back the focus ring came lose which I fixed by taping it up and then the windage adjuster developed a mind of it's own. I'll try for a refund. Finger's crossed.
