Mustelid 143
I've been reading lots of books and magazines and a Goshawk is the bird I'm drawn to. Is it at all feasible for someone to start out with a Goshawk as their first bird? I'm expecting the answer to be a firm no from most people...! Quote Link to post
CrowHawker 227
Yes as long as you find a mentor that has flown one for more that 4-5 seasons! My last (apprentice) started with a peregrine terceil! But came out with me for 4 seasons it's a cracking game hawk that he trained with a little help. You will need to get out and learn hands on after doing all the s hit jobs! 1 Quote Link to post
Mustelid 143
Thanks for the reply. I'm looking to join the Welsh Hawking Club, as they meet local to me, and to learn a lot more before I go any further. Are the hawking fraternity usually willing to help new entrants to the sport? With any luck I'll get out and watch some birds flown this winter and make sure the sport is one I wish to commit to. Quote Link to post
