andyfr1968 772
I'm looking for a decent springer rated scope. Nothing fancy, just something that I can rely on. I'm currently useing my trusty old EB 6x44 with a fine 30-30 ret but I'd like something with a nice basic mil-dot ret or similar. I really liked Hawke's SR6 ret but I'm pissed off with Hawkes falling to bits. I'm leaning towards the Nikon Prostaf range or Nikko Sterling's Platinum's but any other sugestions would be very welcome. Up to around £200. Cheers. Quote Link to post

Rake aboot 4,936
Never like Nikos. I have a coupla Hawkes, sr12`s and find them really good. Another option might be a quality second hand Meopta, or Doctor Jap Tasco with BDC ? Quote Link to post

porkybella 284
Try the mtc range bud. Mtc mamba or mamba lite. If you can push another 40 quid get the 3-12x44 viper. Quote Link to post

Brackenharley 16
I like the look of the Vortex scopes, I am thinking of one of those or a Prostaff 4-12 x40. Quote Link to post
slave 33
I like the look of the Vortex scopes, I am thinking of one of those or a Prostaff 4-12 x40. Vortex are huge in the Us and Canada the bdc ret is different but usable and the guarantee is unconditional http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FAbsgCeI2c And some companies are making some big claims(Vortex optics stood a cut above the rest. Manufacturers such as Leupold, Zeiss, Burris, Hawke and Nikon were all considered, but for best all round performance, Vortex were clear winners.) Quote Link to post
woodcote1 88
Vortex Diamondback Rimfire 2-7x35. Plain ret and paralax set at 50 yards. Quote Link to post
Brackenharley 16
Are the Vortex scopes easy to re-parallax. Was thinking about 35 yards. Quote Link to post
j j m 6,550
Vortex gets my vote Quote Link to post

slave 33
Are the Vortex scopes easy to re-parallax. Was thinking about 35 yards. They are easy to reparallax but if it is returned under warranty for a "fogging" issue due to the gas escaping then it is not as its classed as deliberate damage. A reparralaxed scope has been returned and replaced no questions. I heard they are looking at offering the scopes pre set to AG ranges soon but if you can afford it get an Ao version Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
Thanks for the replys, lads. I do quite like the MTCs that I've seen but I think the Nikons are a little better built and I like their no frills style. The Nikko that I have in mind is the 8x56 Nighteater. Again quite basic but an ideal spec for what I need. I've never had anything to do with Vortex scopes before but I'll certainly check them out. Thanks for the heads up. 1 Quote Link to post
moxy 617
Isn't a 56 a little overkill unless its going onto a FAC rifle Andy? My 50 is more than adequate and is crystal clear for lamping. Even for the FAC. Just throwing my bit into the mix. Quote Link to post
