Kay 3,709 Posted September 5, 2013 Report Share Posted September 5, 2013 i had a walk out earlier & theres loads of blackberrys about so I scrounged a carrier of this bloke who had taken some bread for the swans & got a nice bag full Enough to do 2 pies .. so I knocked up a bit of pie crust & i hope it tastes nice will post a pic of the finnished pie later its in the oven Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Hope it turns out like yours it looks lovely The fruit was cooked enough for my taste , but if you like a more stewed filling I would cook the fruit a little it , the other thing i would do differently is not roll the pastry quite as thick for the base , there was a little bit in the middle that wasnt quite cooked .. other than that it was lovely.. good luck Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Yum. rizla theres one bit left they scoffed the lot here , must be doing summat right fran i had mine with a scoop of vanilla icecream it was lovely i didnt add much sugar so it was quite tangy but the icecream added a bit of needed sweetness .. i am off up the co op for a cooking apple to use the rest up now would hate to waste the rest of the fruit 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites
my hounds 309 Posted September 6, 2013 Report Share Posted September 6, 2013 Kay i could just eat the lot spot on,i dont know if its same for you as regards other fruit,but cherries,apples,plums,pears as well as black berries all in abundance this year near me,had plenty of crumbles frozen some,or just had with vanilla ice cream,even the sloes are well on their way,atb.
