echo 24
buy a dog head collar and hold it tight up to his chin,it will give you a lot more control.Once he;s had a run he should settle Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
Maybe that's why you were given him. . . . My best advice would be to hope he's just over excited and settles down with work and time. Quote Link to post
birddog 1,354
often excitable types need lots and lots of work to settle them, its kinda the more game they see the less exciting it is, get him out lots, the more he sees chases and catches the less of a novelty they'll be, but my worry would be if hes really that excited and headstrong have the basics been done, is he cool with livestock ? and does he retrieve ? , hows his recall etc ? Gaz_1989 9,539
Just out of interest why buy in a 2 year old dog with potential problems when you've got a 6 month old pup that you are bringing on? You could spend the next 3-4 months bonding with and training the pup and then it would be ready for some nice easy slips come December/January? Just wondering like 2 Quote Link to post

He is a really good dog! Amazing around my horses and retrives a ball and places it in my hand, he comes back on a whistle, or just a simple "here" i cant fault him apart from as soon as he sees the lamp on :/ Quote Link to post
paulsmithy83 567
Dog just needs some serious work seen it in a few dogs don't be to worried tbh much prefere a over driven dog to one that has no heart for the game 1 Quote Link to post
