Dog/bitch won't matter.....depends on the dogs makeup wee whippety types will start far quicker than bigger heavily collie blooded dogs which in turn will be ready to go before even bigger deerhoundy dogs and every permutation in between.....some mature quicker than others.... 1 Quote Link to post
birddog 1,354
terrain, opportunity time of year and experience all come into it as well mines are walking through the woods from 12wks, watching the older dog, learning new skills, sniffing down burrows etc my collie x caught her first bunny at 7mnth but didnt go lamping till near a yr old, my deerhound x caught much earlier and was ready for lamping earlier , with her lighter frame she found her feet quicker but i do take it easy and prefer to err on the safe side, rather be late than early, but every dog is different Quote Link to post
